ILOILO CITY CAMPUS

Demographic Profile

The graduate student population in the Iloilo City campus has increased except for the last four (4) years when it slightly decreased. This decline is also reflected in the enrollment of undergraduate students in the College of Management.

Develop a plan to improve the safety and security system for the university's growing art and culture collections.

Improvement of drainage system within the campus and close coordination with government agencies to utilize city facilities. The College of Management (CM) undergraduate program will be transferred to UPV Miagao. Based on the hazard map, most of the UPV Iloilo City campus is moderately susceptible to flooding that occurs during a heavy rain.

Meanwhile, standing water in the basement of the old building is a breeding ground for water-borne diseases. The results of the risk assessment of structures in the gated area of the city campus were based on the workshops with the Physical Infrastructure Committee, using the Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) as a reference.

Policies, Guidelines, and Proposed Land Use

  • Policies
  • Guidelines
  • Proposed Land Uses

Improve the existing links from the university site to its neighboring properties, and provide a continuous link within (UP-OVPD, p.8). In the planning of the campus's built and natural environment, it is expected that all developments will be non-destructive to the existing natural spaces of the university. For buildings declared as national heritage, the permissible uses mentioned in the guidelines of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) shall be applied under the National Heritage Act (RA 10066).

These paths must allow vehicles to go from one end of the park to the other. There should be information boards with maps of the park and nearby open spaces within the campus. With the transfer of the College of Management to the Miagao campus, the population is expected to decrease in the city campus and no additional academic or dormitory buildings will be constructed in the Iloilo City campus.

UPV Iloilo City Campus, being the site of the old municipality of Iloilo City, is itself of historical significance. The proposed core of the Iloilo City campus will increase its areas consisting of the Old City Hall, the UP offering and university road, the redevelopment site of the Women's Club building and the Student Hall. This area will be reduced due to the proposed demolition of the Public Administration (PA) rooms and the prefabricated high school building.

Ranking Process

Using the long list of PPAs, the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellors and the College Deans were requested to rank the PPAs either by consensus or by individual voting.
