LETTER TO THE STOCKHOLDERS
FEU’s achievements during SY 2011-2012 further exemplify the university’s commitment to excellence in the field of education. Our continuous improvements in the areas of accredited academic programs, faculty and student performance, good facilities, clean and safe environment without a doubt contributed to the increase in enrollment by 7% in our Manila campus. Thus, the financial results of operations improved, allowing the usual cash dividends and an additional stock dividend distributed in December 2011.
A major improvement in the Manila campus was the complete renovation of the Law Building to the standard of our newest building in Makati. Elsewhere new facilities were constructed while existing ones were improved. Classrooms and laboratories, faculty rooms, as well as support rooms like the dance studio, the studio theater, university bookstore, the Institute of Nursing demonstration room and the Technology Building Canteen were upgraded.
CCTV, fire and flood control systems were installed to ensure the safety of the FEU community. We were blessed not to have had any flooding within the campus last year due to these improvements.
Our Collective Bargaining Agreements with both the Employees and Faculty Labor Unions covering the next three years were concluded in the most peaceful and friendly manner.
Negotiations were conducted in both instances in record time.
FEU students continue to excel in leadership, academic and sports competitions. Our graduates are making their mark in their respective board/licensure examinations placing among the top ten in Architecture, Bar, CPA, LET, Nursing, Electrical and Civil Engineering. On the other hand, our athletes won championships in beach and indoor volleyball, track and field, basketball, taekwondo, chess and football. Best of all, CHED Chair Patricia B. Licuanan informed FEU of the CHED’s En Banc Resolution granting FEU Manila the Autonomous Status effective 25 July 2012 to 31 May 2014. Congratulations are in order to the President, the faculty, employees and administration without whom this achievement would not have been possible.
Our record increase in enrollment and academic achievements in all our aesthetically pleasing campuses—Manila, Diliman, Cavite and Makati indicate that FEU is indeed one of the preferred schools in the country.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering trust and confidence in our leadership.
LOURDES R. MONTINOLA Chair, Board of Trustees
