In its quest to achieve academic excellence and standards, the Research and Development Office (RDO) has become an innate function of the College. Research is one of the three key functions of higher education institutions (HEIs), along with instruction and community extension. Assist in the preparation of the research plan for the various schools, departments and offices to ensure research productivity; and.

The Research Coordinators (RC) are the anchored researchers who come from the different schools and departments of the EACC. As an academic function, research is one of the most important sources of knowledge and innovation. This approach is used when integration provides a better understanding of the research problem than either alone.

The researcher must respect the right of individuals to refuse participation in research and to withdraw their participation at any stage. Researchers must conduct their research in accordance with the professional code of conduct in research within and outside the institution. The results of the investigation and recommendations will be forwarded to the VPAA, through the RDA, for appropriate actions.

The College recognizes the scholastic efforts of the students in research by conducting research colloquium and seminars.

GUIDELINES IN THESIS WRITING

  • Knowledge
  • Professional significance
  • Continuing professional interest
  • Personal interest
  • Career advancement
  • Professional knowledge, experience, and skills
  • Likely support
  • Time required
  • Accessibility
  • What topic do you really care about and is keen to work on?
  • How closely do you work well with your Thesis Adviser?
  • When will you start writing the thesis?
  • Is your topic realistic, specific and time-bounded?
  • Learn to question your questions
  • Your thesis is your document
  • Where is your focus?
  • Learn to pace yourself
  • Believe you can complete your thesis

The topic of the thesis must be specific and narrow enough to enable the completion of the research plan. The study can also be professionally important because of the way the topic is treated. The thesis proposal should threefold justify the topic of the thesis, the central research problem, the related research questions and the basic research parameters of the proposed study.

This section gives the reader a brief insight into the entire content of the research work. Following the IMRAD EACC research format, related literature refers to published and unpublished materials related to the researcher's topic. When searching for related literature, priority should be given to material that belongs to the inner circles and moves through the outer circles, as it exhausts the possibilities of the insiders.

To place the research in a historical context to be familiar with the latest developments. This can help you quickly find out the relevance or usefulness of the studies in question without going through the full text. Show how the thinking of the experts or key authors or how the debate on your research topic has developed or shifted over time.

Research literature consists of surveys of studies, systems and research conducted from foreign and local environments that relate to the development of the current topic. The matching of the research questions and the research methods or procedures to be used;. If instruments or questionnaires are required in the research, a copy of the specific test or instruments must be provided as part of the proposal.

It may well happen that the thesis panel may ask the students to revise parts of the proposed methodology or propose a completely different methodology. Captions must be indicated with a concise explanation of the figure or graph placed below them. Draw out and discuss the implications of the research findings and the answers to the central questions.

Leave out the claims about the purpose and significance of the study by highlighting the corresponding aspects of the study and showing the appropriate connections. It is better to learn to pace yourself through the various stages of the process which is basically demanding from one stage to the next.

THESIS FORMAT

  • INTRODUCTION Background of the Study
  • RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research Design
  • RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
  • SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Summary

In APA style, sources in an article are listed alphabetically on a separate page titled References. Statement of the problem and/or (for descriptive research) study objectives (for experimental research) theoretical framework/conceptual framework hypothesis (if applicable). Once the thesis committee has approved the final manuscript, including any required revisions, make at least three (3) copies of the approved thesis and place them in hardcover.

The binding should use the prescribed school leather cover, with the same title page text engraved in gold lettering on the front. The title of the thesis, your name (first and middle initials and full surname) and the year of approval must also be inscribed in gold letters on the spine. Since you may need to make other copies of your thesis, it would be best if you print and keep a clear, unbound master copy, including the thesis approval sheet and abstract.

In addition, you must submit an electronic version (in CD format) of the entire dissertation to your school and library.

GUIDELINES FOR THESIS DEFENSE

  • Thesis Students
  • Thesis Adviser
  • Member of the Panel
  • Data Analyst

The key persons in the oral defense consist of the thesis advisor, the chair of the panel and two members of the panel. The following section describes the terms of reference of those individuals who are considered responsible for the duration of the entire exercise. On expenses related to conducting the research, which may include thesis fee, editor's fee, binding and photocopying fee, transportation among others.

The advisor's participation starts from the proposal phase up to the last revision phase of the manuscript. However, the adviser can give the students guidance on the format and statistical aspects of the study. The deadline is at the advisor's discretion; however, decisive consideration should be given to institutional deadlines.

It is up to the consultant to determine whether the manuscript is ready for defense. Maintain contact and coordinate with advisors until submission of revised final manuscript. The advisor is responsible for giving a certain percentage of the advisors grade (depending on school policy).

The chairman of the panel must summarize all the proposals and recommendations of the members of the panel. He/she is responsible for checking the manuscript for grammatical errors and adhering to the American Psychological Association (APA) format. He also interprets and discusses the results of the statistical treatment to them in a way that they can use in the thesis defense.

A good discussion of the method is essential to allow other researchers to adopt or replicate it. Analysis of findings should be supported by relevant literature and studies written by other authors. This section is drawn by the author or researcher from the findings of the study.
