ABSTRACT
This study sought
to
determinethe
readinessof
selected public secondary schoolsin
Pampangato
use5' S in
improvingtheir
library services through a description of their present status, services, quality of management orientation of school library administrators, and improvementof
library services vis-d-vis housekeepingfunctions. lt
made use of the survey typeof
research where a total of 296 teachers and 422 students from 19 target public secondary schoolsin
Pampanga were involved asrespondents. The
univariate descriptive analysison data
gathered, enabled the researcher to conclude that: 1) the target school libraries havebeen
establishedwith most of them partially
operationalbased
onadequacy of collection as well as the limited time of teacher-librarians for various library tasks on account of their teaching loads; 2) the library is not a top priority in the public school despite of its acknowledged vital role as reveale<i
from the
moderate involvementof schsol
principals,lack
of qualifications of teacher-librarians, and their heavy teaching load; 3) the target librarians have performed their rnandated functions that are heavily inclined toward library staff than rnanagerial functions; and 4) the target school libraries are ready to practice 5' S based on the teacher-librarians being client-oriented, the quality of management orientation of principals$"sfl3$"V A ro ffi.i[;]
