Feeding

T w o - to fo u r-y r o ld m ilk fis h a re fe d tw ic e d a ily w ith c o m m e rc ia l fis h p e lle ts (2 4 % p ro te in ) at 3 % o f th e ir to ta l b o d y w e ig h t. U p o n n e a rin g m a tu ra tio n b y th e fo u rth y e a r, fis h a re fe d tw ic e d a ily w ith c o m m e rc ia l s h rim p p e lle ts w ith 3 6- 4 2 % p ro te in a n d 6 -8 % lipid. D a ily fe e d in g ra tio n is in c re a s e d to 4 % o f to ta l b o d y w e ig h t. F e e d s a re b ro a d c a s t to th e fis h b y h a n d .

The Igang Marine Station o r IMS is one of SEAFDEC/AQD's three research stations, and where breeding technology for fishesmilkfish, grouper, and sea bassare developed. In 1982, milkfish was spawned for the first time in captivity by the team headed by endocrinologist Dr. Flor Lacanilao (inset).
