Mesdames Louise Orendain and Praxedes de Guzman Ramos had the time of their lives last Monday morning when they were granted audience by the Apo. They were ac

companied by twenty-six other women. Mrs. Orendain promised the Apo that she would see to it that two thirds of the Baguio ladies will vote straight Liberal. Mrs. Ramos promised to give Quirino the other third of the feminine populace. So that basing upon the figures of the two women leaders, it looks that 100 per cent of the Baguio ladies will vote Liberal this election.

Mrs. Miguela Arvisu was there, too. Speaking for her own self, she pledged her support for the Apo

Women in Baguio do not believe in- block voting, Mrs. Ramos and Mrs. Orendain told Quirino. This, they said, was the greatest problem among the women voters. But the Apo explained that “scattered vot

ing’’ is not conducive to unity. He admonished the ladies to vole straight Liberal, from the top of the ticket down to the bottom.

We doubt if the women voters here would ever heed the Apo’s ad

vice. They are very intelligent, you

One thousand two hundred stu

dents of the Baguio Colleges went to the Mansion House last Tuesday afternoon to pay their respects to the President. In his presentation speech, the assistant city fiscal as

sured the President of the students’

cooperation in the promotion of a c'ean and honest government. The students heard the President lash at his oponents in his extemporaneous speech.

The busiest and probably the most important group of people in our city are the teachers I: is in teresting to watch one of them boast that his or her school is the best managed among city schools.

It seems to us that alt the city public elementary schools are well mai^ged, especially so with the Old and New Baguio Central schools Both schools happen to have women principals. Principal of of the New Baguio Central School is Mrs. Aurea Lopez, one of the busiest women in town. She is a member of the GSP, sario Bernal, Lourdes Bernal, Pru- dencia Gabriel, Ronald Logan, Gre

gorio Verzosa Jr, Anacleto Bernal and Socorro Clemente.

"Ecole de Ballet" To Open Classes On September 3 The “Ecole de Ballet”, the only school of classical dancing in Baguio will open.its regular classes on Sat

urday, September 3, it was announc ed by Mrs. Maria Ana Rosales, di

rector of the school. The classes will be conducted by Miss Mary Angeline Rosales, daughter of Dr and Mrs. Justo Rosales, at her pri

vate studio in her residence at the Bhguio General Hospital She will be assisted by Miss Merc-.'des Lopez, a young pianist from the Holy Fa

mily College

Miss Rosales was a pupil of Ma

dame Kaethe Hauser, famous ballet instructor. Miss Rosales, accompa

nied by her mother, Mrs. Maria Ana Rosales, motored to Manila recent-, y to welcome Madame Hauser, who just arrived from her trip ab- During her stay in Manila, Miss Rosales observed in the different first class ballet studios, among them the Kaethe Hauser studio S he also took advanced lessons in ballet tech

nique under the we 1-known ballet maestro, Mr. Cassel of the Manila Bal'et Academy.

Mrs. Maria Ana Rosales said she is presently preparing advanced students of the “Ecole de Ballet’’

to take part in a special ballet mu

sicale which she and Madame Hauser plan to present in Baguio next sum

mer. The “Ecole de Ballet’* intends to put up a first class studio in the city sometime this year.

the UP alumni association the YWCA and the Baguio Women's Club. Principal of the Old Baguio Central school is Mrs. Epifania En

carnacion, also a very busy woman.

Mrs. Encarnacion, like Mrs. Lopez, is an active member of various wo

men organizations.

Sometimes, when we approach our women to do voluntary work for the good of the people at large, they give the flimsy excuse that they are too busy with other things. In truth the busiest are those who always have time for everything.
