Th e word ‘Mindanao’ is more than just a geographic

place: it is a landscape of the imagination being

shaped by its history, its politics, its art, and its

cultural pluralism. Mindanao’s dream of peace

and progress will not be defi ned by legislation and

military tactics but also by the articulations of its

homegrown intellectuals. Mindanao, in a way, is

still being dreamed into existence.
