SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP and SYMPOSIUM ON EMERGING FRONTIERS IN
MULTIFERROICS AND ELECTRONIC METAMATERIALS
December 9-10, 2012 The Pattaya Beach, Thailand
The field of multiferroics and novel composites is growing rapidly due to its potential in designing novel and tunable multifunctional sensors for structural as well as human health monitoring, in addition to developing and designing new metamaterials. In order to remain abreast of the field and to develop cooperative research in the ʹNew Era of Science’ a special Workshop/Symposium (as the 3rd major one in this series) will be held at the Amari Orchid Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand on December 9 ‐10, 2012, (just before the AMF‐8 conference at Pattaya, Thailand). The main themes of this special Workshop/Symposium will be:
To provide an overview of the basics of the subject and its importance as well as to present the current status of this field to the group of international students and researchers;
Bio‐ferroics as an emerging frontier with an emphasis on the fundamental relationship (or a potential synergy) between biomaterials and multiferroics;
Multi‐tunable (temperature, pressure, wavelength, & electric field) sensors/devices;
To overview the status of the International ʹVirtual Experimental Laboratory Project’, being undertaken at the Univ. Texas at San Antonio & Virginia Tech to promote the collaborative research among the international partners in the INAMM, an NSF funded program;
To strengthen the scientific network with International Research Groups for integrating the recent Developments & Advances in the field;
To discuss various ways to bolster the concepts of ʹNew Era of Science’ and ʹThe Era of New Scienceʹ.
Several invited speakers from the INAMM partner institutions will provide overviews of the areas listed above. Activities of the various groups will be covered by students and junior researchers as well.
