Abstract

Research Title : Water Quality Management Guidelines in Amphawa Canal, Samut Songkram Province.

This research is to study water quality in Amphawa Floating Market, Samut Songkram Province. Samples were collected during March to July, 2010, from eight locations. Samples were collected on a four floating market activity and no activity on the second day. This water samples was analyzed on the three physical parameters (temperature, turbidity odor and) and nineteen chemical water quality (salinity, conductivity, suspended solids, pH, DO, BOD, ammonia – nitrogen, nitrate – nitrogen, FOG, phosphate – phosphorus, Cu, Ni, Mn, Zn, Cd and Pb). The research concluded that some of the water quality parameter were in accordance with natural conditions of surface water quality standard type 3. Therefore water quality in Amphawa canal can be use in comsumer, but must be sterilized by appropriate mean before. However, this water quality is suitable for conservation of fish, fishing and swiming.

The results of various approaches to the management of waste water communities. Found that the way that community care about is how best to reduce fat, oil and grease in the water is thick or stricter enforcement that they are not washing the dishes or food containers into Amphawa canal. In addition, there is no release oil from ships into the canal. And the community itself needs to have the system of household water treatment, such as the use of grease traps and should be used to try to master household.
