I. S + V … + (in order) + to + V … S + V … + in order not + to + V …
(In order) + to + V …, S + V … In order not to + V …, S + V …
1.介紹片語in order to的用法。in order to用以表示目的,其後須接原形動詞,整個片語可置
於句首或句中。
2. in order to可以用so as to取代,但so as to 只用於句中。
例: Henry goes jogging every morning so as to lose weight.
= In order to lose weight, Henry goes jogging every morning.
3. 否定的情況須將not置於不定詞前。否定時,not前面的in order不省略。
例: In order not to lose the game, they practice every day.

II. It is/was + adj. + (for somebody) to +V … To + V + … is/was + adj. + (for somebody)
1.介紹以虛主詞it取代不定詞片語的句型。因不定詞片語放在句首作主詞稍嫌冗長,故以虛
主詞it代替。
2. 不定詞片語當主詞時作為第三人稱單數,故本句型中動詞使用is/was。不定詞當作名詞用
時也可作受詞,例如:I find it difficult to lose weight.句中的to lose weight是find的受詞,被

虛受詞it替代(可參看應用字彙特寫11之課例解碼)。
3. 本句型使用之形容詞用以描述不定詞中的動作對人的影響,若使用之形容詞是用來描述人 物本身,介系詞須用of。
例: It is good for you to take a walk every day.(good用以描述take a walk對you的影響)
例: It is kind of you to give the old lady your seat.(kind用以描述you)
