EVALUATION AND GRADING
I. Methods
The total grades (200 Marks) will be distributed as follows (Memo 8):
1. Continuous Assessment: (20 Marks)
o 10% of the total mark assigned to the following items:
Scientific activities 5 marks
Clinical requirements 15 marks 2. Mid Year Examination: (60 Marks)
o 30% of the total mark assigned to written and clinical exams as follows:
30 marks for written exam.
30 marks for clinical exam
3. Final Examination will take place at the conclusion of the course (120 Marks):
o 60% of the total mark (120 Marks) distributed as:
Oral Written Examination 20 Marks
Clinical Examination 40 Marks
Written Examination 60 Marks
II. Grading
o Based on the cumulative of all the above listed examinations and evaluations.
o Successful completion of the clinical course of Operative Dentistry is depends upon achieving a passing grade of 60% or above of the total mark.
o The grading scale of the University, according to the scores are:
Excellent A: 85% of the total mark Very Good B: 75% of the total mark Good C: 65% of the total mark Satisfactory D: 60% of the total mark Fail F: Below 60% of the total mark A. Written Exam:
MCQ's, short essays and enumeration (complete) will be used to evaluate the theoretical knowledge and understanding.
B. Clinical Exam:
1. All clinical exams will be on class I (for Mid-Year) and class II (for Final) amalgam restorations with the opposing and adjacent teeth present.
2. Pre and Post operative x-ray films are requested to be submitted during the day of clinical exam.
To Summarize:
The course evaluation will consist of a grade for the continuous assessment worth 40% and final examinations worth 60% of the course grade (200 Marks).
(A) The continuous assessment (80 Marks) will consist of:
o Scientific activities 5 Marks o Mid-year clinical exam. 30 Marks o Mid-year written exam. 30 Marks o Clinical requirements 15 Marks
(B) The final examinations (120 Marks) will consist of:
o Final clinical exam. 40 Marks o Final written exam. 60 Marks o Oral written exam. 20 Marks
