AAU concludes the First International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences

Al Ain University concluded the First International Conference of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, which lasted for two days, from 18 to 19th of January 2023, at Abu Dhabi campus. More than 170 researchers and participants attended the conference, and more than 100 research papers from 40 academic and non-academic institutions were reviewed from 20 different countries.

The conference discussed research related to various fields of health and medical sciences and addressed proposals and innovative solutions to serve the community and meet its needs through scientific research and workshops presented by a group of speakers, researchers, specialists,

professors, pharmacists, nutrition experts, trainees and students.

The conference addressed several domains, most notably: Clinical Pharmacology, and Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacology and Molecular Therapeutics, Drug Design and Discovery, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology and Nutrition and Food Science. The conference included keynote addresses madeby: Prof. Marc von Etzstein - Professor of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, Executive Director of the Glycomics Institute, University of Griffiths, Queensland, Australia, and Professor Jonathan Laing - Professor of Public Health, University of Sunderland, UK.

Work Placement Training at Al Ain University for High School Students

Pharmacy Students won Seven Awards at DUPHAT 2023

The College of Engineering at Al Ain University (Abu Dhabi Campus) hosted a work placement-training program in cooperation with the Applied Technology High School for their 12th-grade students, under the supervision of Eng. Huda Alheeh, Eng. Esra Alnashash, Eng. Rima Masri and Eng. Esraa Hijah.

Students from the College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University won seven prizes at DUPHAT 2023 according to a judging panel of prominent international judges in the field of pharmacy. The competition took place at the Dubai World Trade Center, and lasted for two days.

The aim of AAU students› participation, which included showcasing posters and oral presentations of their projects and research, was to share experiences with different institutions.

Healthy Day for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month Traffic Awareness Workshop in cooperation with

Abu Dhabi Police

In recognition of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, the Deanship of Student Affairs (Abu Dhabi Campus) partnered with Millennium Hospital to organize a healthcare day. The event included free examinations and consultations with doctors and specialists to raise awareness about cervical cancer. Dr. Suha Abdel Qader, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Millennium Hospital, provided a comprehensive overview . In cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police (Traffic and Patrols Department),

the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University (Abu Dhabi Campus) organized a traffic awareness workshop presented by Major Ahmed Abdullah Al Muhairi.

The lecture included a detailed explanation of digital traffic awareness, mobile phone hazards, safety procedures in case of weather fluctuations, vehicle breakdown procedures, the Darb Al Salama

campaign, speeding, and seat belts, in addition to the most important laws to be followed while driving.

The workshop aimed to raise traffic safety awareness among the students. In line with this aim, the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University launched the Traffic Safety Committee which will embark in voluntary and advisory work to promote traffic awareness and public safety amongst university students and the local community.

Medical campaign entitled “We take care of you”

The Deanship of Student Affairs Organizes a Workshop on Planning Skills

The Deanship of Student Affairs/ Abu Dhabi Campus has partnered with Pioneer Way to host a workshop entitled “How to plan for your future and implement what you plan” which is aimed at helping students plan for their future. Led by a certified trainer, Coach Asmaa Al-Hosani, the workshop provided attendees with valuable insights

into goal-setting and effective planning strategies.

The workshop covered a range of topics, including the skills necessary for success in both the job market and personal life, and how to develop these skills to become a more influential member of society. Coach Al- Hosani also discussed the importance of setting SMART goals.

The Red Crescent Student Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs (Al Ain Campus) organized a medical campaign entitled «We Take Care of You» in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. The campaign team visited the Emirates Red Crescent Center and met with its Director, Dr. Ahmed Obaid Al Dhaheri, who provided a brief about

the services offered by the Red Crescent to all needy groups.

In response, Dr. Al Dhaheri expressed his gratitude to the team for their efforts and the positive impact the campaign had on society and patients.

College of Engineering Organizes a Virtual Webinar on

““Artificial Intelligence -Assisted Engineering

A Health Event on Sports Injuries and Methods of Treatment

The College of Engineering/ Abu Dhabi Campus recently held a virtual webinar titled «Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Engineering and Economy- Wide Planning of Large River Basins in a Changing Climate.» The webinar was led by Dr. Mohammed Basheer, a Research Fellow at the Humboldt University of Berlin, and moderated by Dr. Omayma Motaleb Mukhtar, the Program Director of Civil Engineering.

The webinar covered the development of a simulation model to design efficient economic and engineering interventions using artificial intelligence techniques to enhance resilience and minimize costs within integrated water-energy-economy-hydrology-climate system models.

The discussion emphasized the current challenges facing sustainable development goals such as Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work &

Economic Growth, and Climate Action.

The Red Crescent Student Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs/ Al Ain Campus, in collaboration with the Czech Hospital, hosted a health- care event entitled «Sports Injuries and Treatment Methods.» The event was attended by academics, administrators, and students and

was designed to educate attendees on the different types of sports injuries and their common causes.The workshop started with an over- view of various sports injuries and how to provide basic first aid in the case of an injury.

An Entertainment trip to Al Wathba Lake Camp A field trip to World Future Energy Summit 2023

The College of Engineering at Al Ain University (Abu Dhabi Campus) organized a field trip to World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2023, under the supervision of Eng. Lama Mahmoud.

WFES 2023 is an annual leading international event accelerating sustainability and the Global transition to clean energy. The event was supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, hosted by Masdar, and in partnership with Tadweer. World Future Energy Summit

2023 has six different forums, as follows: Solar and Clean Energy, Eco Waste, Water, Smart Cities, Climate Change, and Industrial forum.

The trip aims to give the students a chance to discover the latest developments affecting clean energy, solar, water, waste, smart cities, climate, and the environment sectors. These forums provide an essential platform to keep up-to-date with best practices, and current regulatory and market developments.

Al Ain University (Abu Dhabi Campus) recently organized a trip to Al Wathba Lake Camp with the participation of over 60 students, under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs and in collaboration with the Administrative Unit.

The camp, which is one of the newest in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,

features volleyball courts, ropes, air skating, a lake, facilities, and a diverse range of birds.

This trip was organized as part of the Deanship of Student Affairs’

commitment to encouraging students to engage in various extracurricular activities that enrich their university experience in.
