Based on the Graduate Studies Council decision No. (5) in its Meeting No. (5) Which was held on 24/03/2022 with regards to the subject above. The Council decided the following:
- All master students must submit a portfolio as a requirement for forming a thesis defense committee. The portfolio should include proof of achieving a specific number of points through participating in academic activities, such as attending thesis defense sessions – one point for each session, participating in workshops – one point for each session, and participating in conferences, seminars, and academic forums – one point for each session.
- All Ph.D. students must submit a portfolio as a requirement for forming a dissertation defense committee. The portfolio should include proof of achieving a specific number of points through participating in academic activities, such as attending thesis defense sessions – one point for each session, participating in workshops – one point for each session,

ﺎﻴﻠﻌﻟا تﺎﺳارﺪﻟا ﺔﻴﻠ�and participating in conferences, seminars, and academic forums – one point for each session.
- Thesis defense coordinator must approve the thesis defense attendance certificate.
- The workshops attended must be held by the University of Sharjah.
- The conferences attended must be in a field relevant to the program in which the student is enrolled.
- Each Ph.D. student must obtain at least 6 points (distributed among all activities indicated above) as a condition for forming dissertation defense committee.
- Each master student must obtain at least 3 points (distributed among all activities indicated above) as a condition for forming thesis defense committee.
- Attendance certificates are distributed to all participants of the academic activities mentioned above.
- Students are exempted from this condition only if the program they are enrolled in is new; there are no previous defenses in the program.
- The graduate studies’ committee in the department will be tasked with implementing this decision. No thesis defense committee will be formed unless the student fulfills this condition.
- This decision will be applied to newly admitted students as of the next fall semester 2022/2023
