About the Centre
The Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre (CSSC) at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) is a state of the art training centre that can be used as a resource for spe- cialized training of medical students, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. In the centre, participants evaluate and diagnose patients through teaching models that incorporate the use of actor patient and computerized man- ikin that simulate disease. The CSSC provides opportunities for hands on training a safe environment.
Center Divisions
CSSC is composed of three wings with eight small rooms in each wing :
First Section:
There are rooms for mimicking of the Out Patient Clinics and are used for stu- dents to practice patient clerking, counseling, and communication skills.
Second Section:
There are rooms used to teach examination skills, as well as, procedural skills, include suturing, venipuncture and airway management. All rooms are equipped with the patient beds & examination tables or diagnostic instruments , Digital au- dio-visual monitoring system supplements viewing during clinical teaching and exams.
Third Section:
The other functional component of CSSC includes Standardized and Simulated Patients for continuum of clinical teaching and assessment the CSSC contains seven big rooms which include high fidelity technology. Additionally, CSSC has Live Transmission of the Digital Operating Rooms of KAUH for some selected teaching procedures.
Other CSSC Activities:
Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for all clinical departments for pre and post graduates programs.
Organization and Hosting of scheduled or elective Workshops and Courses Orientation: Internship orientation program for the final year medical students Courses and workshops for preparation & training of health care trainers by Using the latest education technologies.
