KFMRC Position:
Assistant Professor
Coordinator - Acquired & Inherited Disease Unit Fundamental & Applied Biology Group
Specialty: Cancer Biology, Cell Signaling, Gene Expression Degree: PhD in Biotechnology
Brief Bio:
Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Jamal, Joined King Fahd Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah as Assistant Professor. He completed his PhD in Biotechnology from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, India.
His research work focused on Systems biology oriented study of cancers and hematological disorders. During his Doctorate program, he studied the G1 phase of cell cycle arrest at the level of signaling, transcription factors and gene expression using systems biology approach. During his postdoctoral program in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), Cincinnati, he worked on leukemic humanized mouse model. Later in Human Oncology Department, Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research (WIMR), University of Wisconsin, USA, as Research Associate he worked on skin and prostate cancer. He has explored the activation of transcription factors (TFs) (GATA and PAX family) and microRNAs in responses to UVR exposure of mouse skin. In the continuum of that at KFMRC, KAU, Jeddah, KSA, he is investigating the role of TFs and miRs in the development of skin, prostate, breast cancer and hematological disorders using systems biology approach.
