Introduction

In this electrically engineered era, the products and services are modernized for both domestic and commercial usage. Systems ranging from lightening and electric devices that we enjoy on daily basis as well as wireless telecommunications, electronic networks, and the Internet to more complex structures of control circuits in different systems such as cars, aircrafts, and next-gen computing platforms, everything around us relies on some forms of electrical engineering. By advancing in the field of electric engineering the mechanics of the world becomes more easy to comprehend.

The establishment of Electrical Engineering Department is therefore indispensable to prepare the individuals for scientific and technical advancements experienced by the community. The department offers a broad program for students and research opportunities in the field. The program will offer integrated and profound knowledge of crucial engineering issues, while advancing personal skills, creativity, innovation, good management and commitment to the ethics of the profession.

Electrical Engineering department welcomes the future engineers to contribute towards the betterment of the society and achieve sustainable development to shape the industry on various grounds.

The Electrical engineering department seeks to obtain the local academic accreditation through National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) as well as international accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Vision

Leadership in the electrical engineering field.

Mission

To prepare high quality electrical engineers with the ability to conduct scientific research and help in community services.

System of study & Course Requirements

The college follows the semester system (two semesters per academic year); each semester consists of 15 academic weeks. The college may offer some courses in an 8- week summer semester.

In order for the student to be granted a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, he must successfully complete 162 credit hours including:

• University requirements (31 credit hours),

• College requirements (46 credit hours),

• Department requirements (85 credit hours).

In addition, he must perform a field training of 8 weeks or Cooperative training for 24 weeks.

The program has two main tracks which are:

• Regular track.

• Cooperative track.

Description of Regular Track:

Ø The student must complete 74 credit hours of compulsory courses, as listed in Table (5).

Ø The student must select 9 credit hours of elective courses from the list provided in Table (6).

Ø In addition to the above mentioned requirements, the student must perform a field training (2 credit hours) for 8 weeks after successfully completing 110 credits (including the preparatory year). The primary goal of the field training is to allow students to incorporate and emphasize the lessons learned in the classroom into a real-world experience set in a professional practice-oriented environment which is overseen by licensed professional engineers. In addition to offering students the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their technical skills, participation in the program allows students to develop professional

skills such as teamwork, effective communication, social interaction and professional networking, an understanding of business procedures, leadership, and critical thinking.

Ø The training should be done during the summer vacation or otherwise according to the department’s approval. The student cannot register for any academic course offered by the department during the field training.

Description of Cooperative Track:

Ø The student must complete 74 credit hours of compulsory courses, as listed in Table (5).

Ø The student must select 3 credit hours of elective courses from the list provided in Table (6).

Ø In addition to the above-mentioned requirements, the student must perform a field training (8 credit hours) for 24 weeks after successfully completing 110 credits (including the preparatory year). The primary goal of the cooperative training is to allow students to incorporate and emphasize the lessons learned in the classroom into a real-world experience set in a professional practice- oriented environment which is overseen by licensed professional engineers. In addition to offering students the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their technical skills, participation in the program allows students to develop professional skills such as teamwork, effective communication, social interaction and professional networking, an understanding of business procedures, leadership, and critical thinking.

Ø The training should be done during the summer vacation and another semester, proceeding or following this summer vacation. The student cannot register for any academic course offered by the department during the cooperative training except for the graduation project.
