blends organizational and managerial concerns with the study of information technologies. The (IS) program is designed to provide students with:

1. The technical background required to be able to function credibly in business and industry, and

2. Organizational and managerial skills necessary to plan for and manage organizational information systems and to advance into leadership positions, particularly within the IS functional area of the firm.

3. Contribute to the economic growth and the welfare of the Saudi society through the development and management of informa- tion systems for business and research.

(a) An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the discipline.

(d) An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal.

What is Information Systems?

Information is the critical ingredient for the operation and management of any organization. Information Systems (IS) is a coordinated collection of information subsystems that are rationally integrated to collect, store, process, retrieve, disseminate, and commu- nicate information for the support of operations, manage- ment, and decision-making functions in business and other organizations. The objective of (IS) is to enhance productiv- ity by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes.

140 credits are required to graduate, including 41 credits of general education. In addition, students are required to select 9 credits in major elective courses.

Tracks (Fields):

The Department of Information Systems offers Bachelor Degree in five tracks (minors) which can be finished within five academic years

Graduates are granted letters certifying that they are majoring in a specific track provided they have completed minimum 9 credit hours in that track. In case the graduate has not completed the minimum 9 credits in any track, she/

he will graduate without being granted such letters.
