Course Description:
This course, Reading II, LANE 215, is taught in three hours per week. Reading I, LANE 212 is required as a prerequisite. Each unit of the course textbook, NorthStar – Advanced, is designed to explore intellectually challenging, contemporary themes to stimulate critical thinking skills while building language competence. LANE 215 is designed to help students to develop their vocabulary and language skills in general using communicative activities and skill-building exercises.

Attendance policy:
Students are expected to be punctual and attend all classes.
If a student arrives after the scheduled beginning time for class, it will be put down in the attendance sheet as Late (3 times Late = 1 absence).
Being absent for more than 20% of allocated course time means that the student will receive a DN (denied from final exam) grade which is equivalent to an F.

Students are expected to take part in classroom discussions and other activities.
Students are allowed to use a dictionary/thesaurus when needed.
