2. OBJECTIVE/PERSONAL PROFILE

 I am an UK qualified General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with over 24 years of clinical experience and over 10 years of clinical teaching experience following my highest terminal degree.

 My passion has been teaching and passing on the lessons learnt over the past 22 years of clinical experience to my students.

 My best attributes are hard work, integrity, honesty, empathy and compassion to my fellow human beings whichever station in life they happen to be placed in.

 I always keep myself updated and work hard to infuse new knowledge to the benefit of my patients.

 I believe that I can be an asset to any institution I work in with my work ethic and experience.

3. SUMMARY OF CAREER AND ACHIEVEMENTS Teaching:

 I am currently working since November 2018 (currently 4.5 years) as Associate Professor in Surgery at RAK College of Medical Sciences, RAK, UAE teaching undergraduate students.

 I have six years and 4 months teaching experience from May 2006 as Associate Professor in General Surgery at Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences, Kulashekharam, Tamil Nadu, India.

 I had been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Medical, Nursing and Pharmacy students in Clinical Surgery.

 My focus has been on integrated basic and clinical skills with a hands on approach with special emphasis of using basic techniques to master clinical skills to solve day to day medical problems.

November 2019 to present

I am working as Part-time Specialist General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at RAK Hospital, Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

April 2017 to October 2018

I was working as Specialist General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Royal Medical and Dental Center (Now NMC Royal and Medical Center), Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

April 2015 to March 2016

I was working as Senior Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Atlas Hospital, another busy private hospital at Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

December 2014 to March 2015:

I was working as Senior Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Starcare First Medical Center, while continuing to perform surgeries at Starcare Hospital.

September 2012 to October 2014:

I was working as Senior Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Starcare Hospital, a premiere private hospital at Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

2004 to August 2012:

I was working as Senior Consultant Surgeon at SK Hospital, Edapazhanji, Trivandrum, Kerala, India.

2002 to 2004:

I was working as a Junior Consultant Surgeon at Vanchinad Hospitals Ltd. (now renamed

“Medical Mission Hospital”), Kochulloor, Medical College PO, Trivandrum, Kerala, India.

1998 to 2002:

As a Junior Surgeon at the very busy tertiary care St. Joseph’s Mission Hospital, Anchal, Kerala, India, I was in charge of the out patient care of patients, admission, pre operative investigations, preoperative preparation and post operative care and follow up of patients.

There was a Nursing school attached to the hospital and my duties also included teaching the students basic surgical principles, how to assist the surgeons and routine surgical ward management.

1991-1993:

I worked as a General duty Medical officer at the Assembly of God Hospital and Research Centre, Calcutta, India with rotations in Paediatrics, General Surgery, General Medicine and Orthopaedics.

Over all these clinical assignments, I have conducted independent out patient clinics, investigated, pre-operatively prepared and managed Surgical patients attending the Hospital. I also did second call roster duties at the Accident and Emergency department. I

Rev: 6 June 2023 have done common General Surgical operations like Hernia surgeries, Appendicectomies, minor excisions as well as more complex procedures like stomach, colon, breast, thyroid, parotid gland surgeries etc. I had been doing Laparoscopic procedures also including diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries. I also helped our gynaecologists with their laparoscopic work.
