Reviewing Race and Ethnicity with special reference to

‘The Bluest Eye’ by Tony Morison.

Abstract:

This paper is an endeavour to bring the facets of life in America.

Efforts also have been made to review of the history of the race and ethnicity in the united nation. It discusses about the feeling of a black American among the white one. The very subsistence of Race and ethnicity in society and the very behaviour of the Americans. How a not good-looking white American lady is respected, cherished and esteemed than a good looking black American woman. The paper concludes by Tony Morison’s views on President Barrack Obama’s election in America.

Hypothesis:

Reviewing the novel, ‘The Bluest Eye’ by Tony Morison to focus the racial and ethnic aspects. To relate the novel to present situation in united states and the whole election of President Obama as one of the Tony Morison’s dreams.

Aims and Objectives:

 To study the novel, ‘The Bluest Eye’ by Tony Morison.

 To read and understand the Characters in reference to the elements like; Race and Ethnicity

 To relate the characters in the then times socio-cultural, racial and ethnic aspects in America.

 To conclude the paper with Tony Morison’s dream of the bluest eye has came true in the form of President Barrack Obama

Methodology:

The flexible design, i.e. Exploratory Method has been adopted for the present work. This includes careful review of the available material for the present hypothesis with precise meaning.

The conclusion is based on the comparative methodology in which Tony Morison’s characters and dream is compared to the present situation in America-2009.

INTRODUCTION

The past twenty years have seen the rise of new ethnic literatures in the United States as well as a second Renaissance in African American writing, and in this course we shall explore both the differences and the similarities that the writing of race and ethnicity in the US presents. We could think of the

problem of writing against stereotypes, of writing in a second language, of oral cultures represented now in literature, and so on. Some of the best known and most exciting texts and writers in contemporary US literature (Morrison, Maxine Hong Kingston, Bharati Mukherjee, Louise Erdrich) belong to this movement.
