Dermatology Course MDDE 504
.A 3-‐credit-‐hour course that extends over 11-‐week period and is offered to the 5th year medical students for 3 rotations per semester (i.e. 6 rotations per academic year). The course emphasizes in
providing adequate and appropriate theoretical knowledge and clinical experience to enable the student to diagnose, treat prevent common skin diseases at the primary care level. Actively involved in giving lectures, tutorials, clinical teachings and examinations.

Brief Description of Postgraduate Courses Taught: (Course Title – Code: Description)
1 Full participation in postgraduate training, supervision and evaluation of dermatology interns, junior and senior residents, demonstrators and rotating residents from other departments. It involves
bedside clinical teaching, lectures, clinicopathological meetings, tutorials and seminars, and examinations.
2 Active participation in the residency training program of dermatology for King Faisal University Fellowship. This program is a 4-‐year residency. Certified candidates are considered equivalent to those who hold other postgraduate degrees. The program is divided into four levels with a 17-‐week rotation:
Level I (40 weeks and allocated 30 credit hours)
MDDE 811: An introduction to the principles and practice of dermatology.
MDDE 812: Genodermatoses and developmental anomalies of the skin.
MDDE 813: Biology and pathology of epidermal keratinocytic and melanocytic systems.
MDDE 814: Biology and pathology of epidermal appendages.
Level II (23 weeks and allocated 17 credit hours)
MDDE 821: Eczemas, reactions to drugs and physical agents, vascular disorders.
MDDE 822: Cutaneous infections.
Level III (18 weeks and allocated 13.5 credit hours)
MDDE 831: Lichen planus, Lichenoid eruptions and Vesiculobullous dermatoses.
MDDE 832: Disorders of the corium and subcutaneous tissue.
MDDE 833: The skin and systemic diseases.
Level IV (42 weeks and allocated 3. credit hours)
MDDE 841: Proliferative and neoplastic diseases of the skin.
MDDE 842: Sexually transmitted diseases.
MDDE 843: Electives (2 months).
MDDE 844: Dissertation in dermatology
