ABSTRACT:

This paper presents some results ofthe effect of ground surface uniform strip load on the distribution of lateral earth pressure on retaining wall by using analytical formulas. The lateral pressure at any depth z is determined by changing the value of distance between the wall and the strip load or changing the width ofthe strip load in these formulas and from that a chart of lateral earth pressure distribution on a retaining wall is drawn.

This paper supplies significant data in the retaining wall design.

Keywords: Rigid retaining walls, lateral earth pressure, m stress due to a surface load.
