Abstract
Nano CeO2 was synthesized by the sol-gel method from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Cerium (IV) nitrate in molar ratio PVA/Ce4+ = 2:1 (mol/mol), pH prepared gel = 3, calcinations temperature and time: 600oC/60 min. The CeO2 nanoparticles were characterized by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The particle size of CeO2 nanoparticles is ranging from 25- 35 nm in diameter. Photochemistry ability of nano CeO2 catalyst to decompose methylene blue in UV light about 7,2 times bigger than when no catalyst nano CeO2 and 1,79 times greater than when folding photochemical by sunlight.
Keywords: CeO2, sol-gel method.
