11. Summary of the findings of the thesis: The thesis proposes a new moving object detection method on compressed domain for high-resolusion videos. The related works usually detect the moving object in videos by using data from pixel value. This way takes too much computing resource and time. Some scientists have idea that use the data from compressed videos such as: motion vector, macroblock, quantization parameter, … to detect moving object and their method’s results are good. But the related works always perform experimentals on low resolution videos (352x288 pixels, 352x240 pixels, 176×144 pixels, …). With the high-resolution video, these methods work not well. In the thesis, I propose a new method to detect moving object by using motion vector combines with the storage size of macroblock. The method can be performed on high-resolution videos. The processing speed and result of method are good. The videos in the thesis are encoded with video compression standard H264/AVC.
In additional, to support the searching speed of an application that is built by using the method, I propose a good data structure for storing movement information of surveillance videos.
12. Practical applicability, if any: The proposed method is used to build a moving object detection application in practice. The application is ordered by VP9 Vietnam company and they have accepted.
13. Further research directions, if any: I will focus on making the system self-tuning the threshold by using machine learning to get the better detection results.
