This paper presents a case study of modelling the globoidal indexing cam with cylindrical rollers. The main data for modelling is the 5-axis numerical control (NC) program that used lo machine the cam. Here, the values of rotational axes in the NC program are converted to the input and output angular displacements of the cam and the follower From these displacements, the coordinates of the pitch points on the rollers, and then the pitch surfaces, can be defined The working surfaces of the cam can be obtained by offseling the pilch surfaces. In this study, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4 is used for modelling the cam and checking interference between the cam and its rollers.
