SIX STEP PROBLEM-SOLVING PROCESS
G1 5M0918
• There are many different methods used when solving issues and problems but six step problem-solving is one of the best.
• It is a straight forward, systematic way to deal a problem with, it consist of clearly defined steps that an individual doesn't get bogged down in.

FLOW CHART
G1 5M0918
• The main point of this step is to be able to identify the issue or problem.
• It’s not easy to identify the problem as problems are usually tied with emotional issues.
• Egos are usually linked to the problem or possible solution.
• Ev eryone must step back from the issue and look at the cause of the problem.
STEP 1. IDENTIFY AND SELECT THE PROBLEM
G1 5M0918
• Analyze the issue to figure out the real cause of the problem
• Once the cause is identified, plans can be generated on how to deal with the problem.
• Analyzing means that research must be done in order to gather enough information.
• Once the information is present, try to figure out what's going on.
STEP 2. ANALYZE THE PROBLEM
G1 5M0918
• After the problem has been analyzed, the group will have a clear picture on how to develop possible solutions
• For this step everyone in the group is required to use brainstorming process to develop different kinds of solutions
• At the end of brainstorming allow time for everyone to clarify their suggestion so that there is a common understanding
STEP 3. GENERATE POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS

• Select the best solution from the list of solutions the group have developed.
• The chosen solution is suppose to be the one which is going to fix the issue given resources, circumstances and their considerations.
• Different factors can effect a solution e.g. money, time, policies etc., all these factors they should be considered and dealt with.
• The group should prioritize the solutions and should then discuss those chosen solutions and come to consensus on the best solution
• At this point the group should find a clear plan to track the solution and gather enough information on how it is working and make final adjustments
STEP 4. SELECT AND PLAN THE SOLUTION
• This step is the DO stage of the PDSR
• The group is suppose to track down the solution and gather information to use in the study stage
• Scientific approach is required at this step in order for the group to identify specifically what is happening with the solution
STEP 5. IMPLEMENT THE SOLUTION
G1 5M0918
• This is the final stage of PDSA
• This time the group is required to observe if the solution worked, if not they have to identify why it didn’t work and find out what went right and what went wrong.
• On this stage careful analysis is required in order for the group to improve the solution using information gathered from the previous step.
• After this the group is now ready to act upon their findings and the problem should be solved.
STEP 6. EVALUATE THE SOLUTION
