It is alleged that she was last seen by her daughter on Thursday, 3 November 2022 around 12:30, when she went shopping in Brits. A search was conducted around the neighbourhood and the vicinity of Maboloka without any success. It is not known what was she wearing at the time of her disappearance.

Msiza has a brown complexion, an average body structure with a tattoo on her chest and back. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts can contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Julius Nkgoeng of Letlhabile Detectives on 076 129 3139.

BRITS POS – MABOLOKA - The police in Letlhabile request the community’s assistance in locating Martha Maditaba Msiza (39), who resides in Bafokeng Section, Maboloka village, north of Brits.

Nora Martins, ‘n inwoner van Damonsville, net buite Brits herdenk Donderdag (vandag), 12 Januarie 2023 haar 113de geboortedag.

Ouma Nora, soos almal haar ken, is in 1910 in Rustenburg gebore en het in haar kinderjare na Brits en later Damonsville verhuis. Uit haar huwelik, met wyle Daantjie Martins, is 13 kinders gebore. Sy is die trotse ouma en oumagrootjie van bykans 300 kleinkinders, agterkleinkinders en agteragterkleinkinders.

“Dis alles net God se genade,” sê Ouma Nora, wat steeds helder van verstand is. Volgens haar kleinkinders is haar gesondheid redelik goed en sy geniet nog elke dag ‘n lekker bord kos. Voorwaar ‘n merkwaardige mylpaal! Sy word hartlik gelukgewens. God’s rykste seën, goeie gesondheid en vreugde word haar toegewens.

The Department of Basic Education’s (DBE) minister, Angie Motshekga will announce the 2022 matric examination results on Thursday, 19

January 2023. They will be accessible at exam centres, online, and in newspapers on Friday, 20 January 2023.

South Africa’s latest batch of matriculants officially sat their exams from 31 October 2022, writing their last paper on 7

December.

923,460 learners — comprising full-time and part-time students — registered for the 2022 matric examinations — a 3% increase over 2021’s participants.

A team of 52,811 markers began marking the November 2022 National Senior Certificate examinations on 10 December. Marking concluded on 20 December.

Other important dates regarding the matric examination results include:

3 February 2023 — Last day to apply for remarking of examination scripts; and, 8 February 2023 — Last day to register to rewrite in May/June 2023.

Unauthorised and illegal use of SAPS property and uniform

SAPS WARNING

BRITS POS – BRITS - The South African Police Service (SAPS) warns members of the public against the unauthorised and illegal use of SAPS property which include uniforms, equipment and emblems.

“This comes as police have noted a video clip circulating on social media platforms, on which a civilian can be seen in a marked police vehicle wearing a SAPS cap,” says Brigadier Athlenda Mathe. This unauthorised use of SAPS property and uniform is in direct contravention of the SAPS Act.

“To this end, this civilian has committed at least three offences in terms of the SAPS Act ; Section 66 (1), 68(1) and 68(3) in that he wore the emblems and official insignia of the SAPS.

“The man has thus created a false impression that he is lawfully associated with the police service by being in a marked police vehicle and wearing of the badge and emblem of the SAPS which is protected by law.

“The SAPS takes this opportunity to educate members of the public that the wearing of uniform or distinctive marks of the SAPS by a person who is not a member or who does not have permission to do so from the National Commissioner, is an offence.”

Civilians are therefore discouraged from using or wearing police property to avoid having a criminal record.

Police are investigating this matter.

Robbers surprise woman at home

BRITS POS – HEBRON - A woman (32) was alone at home at Moseja Section, Hebron on Saturday, 7 January around 23:30, watching TV when she heard noises inside the house.

She went to the kitchen and saw two men. She ran off and started screaming for help, but was soon silenced by one of the villains, holding her at gunpoint, demanding money, her car keys and the gate’s remote control.

The suspects sped off in her Ford Eco

Sport and the vehicle was later recovered in a remote area of Kgabalatsane.

A case of house robbery was opened at Hebron police station.

Couple hijacked upon leaving tavern

BRITS POS – LETLHABILE - A couple were on their way to leave a tavern in Moseja section, Hebron on Sunday, 8 January around 00:15 in a black Opel Corsa, when a man knocked on the driver’s side window, requesting assistance.

When the driver got out, he was held at gunpoint and another suspect assisted in forcing the driver into the boot of his car.

The suspects then drove off and, on their way, contacted a person requesting assistance to detect the vehicle’s tracker unit to enable them to remove it, however unsuccessfully.

They then returned and drove into a bushy area in Letlhabile where the couple were assaulted and the suspects took their cellphones and fled the scene

in the victim’s vehicle.

The vehicle was later found in Letlhabile and the victims managed to get assistance from the police. A carjacking case was opened at the Letlhabile police station.

Capt Sam Tselanyane, SAPS North West spokesperson confirmed that no arrest has been made.

Missing boy (9) found murdered

BRITS POS – OUKASIE - A 9-year-old boy went missing on Monday, 2 January after spending time with his cousins.

He left his mother’s house in Greenside section, Oukasie, telling her that he is going to play with his cousins at his grandmother’s place where he stays.

When the grandmother came to her daughter’s house on Tuesday, 3 January looking for her grandchild, they realised that the boy was missing, as both thought that the boy slept over at their respective houses. They also went to her sister’s house, but the boy was nowhere to be found. The mother opened a missing person case at Brits police station on 3 January and told police that she had terminated her relationship with her boyfriend and that he had threatened her and told her that she was going to cry.

Police searched for the suspect, but without success. “On Wednesday, 4 January around 06:30 police received information from a resident in Siyahlala Section, Oukasie that the lifeless body of a boy was found next to a fence,” says Captain Sam Tselanyane, SAPS North West spokesperson. It was confirmed that it was the missing boy. “We can confirm that a case of murder was registered at Brits police station and at this stage no one has been arrested.” Anyone with information regarding the incident can contact the Investigating Officer, Lt Col Charmaine Jenner of Brits Detectives on 082 460 6581.

Boy (17) shot during house robbery

BRITS POS – MAKAPANSTAD -While a family of three were asleep, suspects gained entry into their house on Friday, 6 January around 22:15 at Riverside Section, Mathibestad.

The couple run a tuckshop from their premises.

Three suspects of which two were armed, held the man (46) and his wife at gunpoint in their bedroom and demanded money. They assaulted the man and he gave them money, but they demanded more and then went to their 17-year-old son’s room, taking his cellphone. The couple heard a gunshot and the suspects fled the scene.

The son was shot in his hip and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

“We can confirm that cases of house robbery and attempted murder were registered at Makapanstad police station,” says Captain Sam Tselanyane, spokesperson for SAPS North West.

“At this stage the suspects are not yet arrested and anyone with information regarding the incident can contact Captain Chabalala of Makapanstad Detectives on 060 997 2871.”

How inflation impacts your insurance premium

BRITS POS – BRITS - While it is sometimes true that your insurance premiums decrease as your car gets older, this is not always the case, especially when inflation is high.

Premiums tend to increase in line with inflation.

According to the Bureau for Economic Research (BER), we can expect inflation to remain at around 7% for the next several months as higher diesel prices and input costs hit consumers.

Barend Smit, Marketing Director of MotorHappy, a supplier of motor management solutions and car insurance options, says an elevated inflation rate usually means increased costs associated with vehicle repairs, and ultimately, insurance premiums

“Your car depreciates as it gets older. It begins to show more signs of wear, and the mileage increases. However, the cost of repairing your car – the price paid for paint, parts, and labour - continues to increase in line with inflation,” he explains. “Even if your car is worth less than it was when you bought it, repairs are still costly. For example, if your car’s side mirror needs to be replaced after an accident, the cost of the mirror and the labour associated with the repair will be high, regardless of how old your car is.”

Insurers report that most claims are a result of accident damage. This means the insurance carries a greater risk of paying for accident damage than they do for vehicle theft or total write off. As a result, a greater percentage of your premium goes towards the risk of accident damage.

“As the cost of vehicle repair increases because of inflation, it’s likely that the price of insurance premiums will increase too,”

says Smit. “Your monthly insurance premium is impacted by several factors – some are in your control, and others are not. When it comes to low insurance, shopping around will find you the best price.”

Below are some other factors that might increase your insurance premium:

Choosing the incorrect excess amount The excess is the amount you are liable to pay when you are in an accident, or your car is stolen. If you choose a low excess amount, your monthly insurance premiums will be

higher. However, if you choose a high excess amount to get lower monthly premiums, be sure that you are in a financial position to pay the excess if your car needs to be repaired or replaced.

A history of previous claims

To calculate your insurance premiums, companies look at how often you have claimed in the past. People who aren’t involved in many accidents or who haven’t claimed often will enjoy lower premiums and sometimes even cash-back rewards.

Choosing comprehensive coverage

Comprehensive Coverage is the most expensive type of insurance because it covers your vehicle for fire, theft, hijacking, natural disaster, or an accident with another vehicle regardless of fault. Driving a luxurious car

The neighbourhood you live in impacts your insurance premiums – if you live in a high-risk area, your insurance premiums will be higher. If you park your car overnight in a locked garage, and if you have security features such as a vehicle tracker and an alarm, your insurance premiums might be lower.

Using your car for business

If you drive your car for work throughout the day, your insurance premiums will be higher because more time behind the wheel usually means higher risk.

Your age and gender

Younger, less experienced drivers usually pay more for car insurance. Coverage for men is usually more expensive than coverage for women because men are seen as a higher risk.
