Pastoral Planning

Do the experiences of the poor and the oppressed have a privileged role to play in the process? Therefore, Cochrane et al. suggest that the overall process of the Pastoral Circle has seven stages as opposed to the four stages of Holland and Henriot.

From the researcher's discussions with Professor JNJ Kritzinger, the four points of Holland and Henriot's pastoral circle merge with the seven points of Cochran et al. These smaller pastoral circles connect two or three points of a larger circle, with each of the smaller circles having a specific function (Figure 4).

INTRODUCTION

The understanding of trust would provide the basis and foundation of arguments that require a need for service in Informal Settlements. Traditional Western models of faith versus faith practiced in a developing country - South Africa.. ii) The concept, meaning and meaning of faith in God amidst poverty in Informal Settlements. iii).

THE THEOLOGY AND B ASIS OF FAITH AND ITS RELEVANC Y

  • THE TRADITIONAL WESTERN M ODELS OF FAITH

In the continuation of this section, we must measure the adequacy of traditional Western models of faith and the practice of faith in a developing country against the 'character' and 'purpose' of Christ in his ministry and his relevance to our ministry. Much of the debate in the West has been about the concept of faith as belief.

THE CONCEPT, MEANING, UNDERSTANDING AND PRACTICE OF FAITH

We can conveniently avoid such an issue and focus on the faith of the individual in the community in informal settlements. The basis and foundation of an individual's faith culminates in the communion of the church community.

PRACTISING FAITH IN INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS

Thus, this situational unity of people in Informal Settlements creates a deep unquestionable sense of care, support and help when needed. The church and 'umfundisi' are always there to help and serve the needs of the residents.

CHRISTIAN FAITH'S RESPONSE TO SITUATIONS OF NEED

34;The Righteous" very aptly describes the church and its non-commitment to the strife, struggle, need and well-being of the residents of the Informal Settlement. Furthermore, the church sees the residents of the Informal Settlement in their vicinity as being.

INTRODUCTION

To add to the whole issue of Holland and Henriot's involvement and placement: what is needed are pastoral answers from.

WHO IS INVOLVED OR SHOULD BE INVOLVED?

WITH WHOM IS THE INVOLVEMENT?

We hope that this real-life event will awaken our thinking and lead the church to its inevitable response of serving people in informal settlements. The bomb he planted at the Sanlam center in Amanzimtoti, about twenty kilometers outside Durban, was later.

WHY THE INVOLVEMENT?

One of the most important factors, 1S the thinking and perception that people and communities have of missions and the church. Is the church guilty of being caught in the same trap of not speaking out.

INTRODUCTION

  • SOCIAL ANALYSIS IN THE INFORMAL SETTLEMENT AT THE STRUCTURAL LEVEL
  • SOCIAL ANALYSIS IN THE INFORMP_L SETTLEMENT AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL
  • SOCIAL ANALYSIS IN THE INFORMAL SETTLEMENT AT THE PERSONAL LEVEL

The vacuums that the losses left in the community area are further exacerbated in the personal lives of the residents of the Informal Settlements. This cannot but be presented against the background of the basic human rights of the people in this case those in informal settlements.

INTRODUCTION

This chapter will focus on .. i) the forced service of the Church in this particular area. ii) Church analysis based on the situation.

THE COMPULSIVE MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH IN THIS DESIGNATED AREA

Because most Indian churches have a strong fundamental and evangelical stance/ the main focus of their ministry has been the communication of the gospel of salvation. However, having said that/ the responses from the survey show that there is a lot of effort and effort/ now/ to deal with and address the social aspects of the ministry.

SURVEY OF THE ECCLESIAL ANALYSIS

  • ECCLESIAL ANALYSIS BASED ON THE SITUATION
  • ECCLESIAL ANALYSIS BASED ON THE STRUCTURE
  • ECCLESIAL ANALYSIS BASED ON THE ETHOS OF THE CHURCH
  • ECCLESIAL ANALYSIS BASED ON THE PRAXIS OF THE CHURCH

Building maintenance and improvement has become an expensive and time-consuming feature of the local congregation. This is so because of the way in which the practical situation presents itself, since the inhabitants of the informal settlements are mostly the indigenous African population, and the people who have to serve from the churches are mostly of Indian origin.

INTRODUCTION

How long will the church be indifferent, aloof and unconcerned about what is happening on its doorstep. The hope is that it will detect these ecclesiastical shortcomings in the church's ministry and responsibility towards those in whose midst a church is located.

IS THE CHURCH RELEVANT TODAY?

Once the bona fides and integrity of the church and its ministry are established with some degree of authenticity, honesty and commitment, the church would surely have come a long way in meeting the question of theological relevance. The rationale for qualifying or justifying the relevance of this service, where the focus is on the church or the congregation in the informal settlements, is precisely to give the serving church an entrance to this specific service.

DOES THE CHURCH FULFIL ITS CALLING BASED ON THE NEED IN ITS LOCALITY?

Our question of whether the church is meeting its needs in its locality can be compared to the two biblical foundations for the emphasis on mission in the Gospel of Matthew and in the books of Luke and Acts. For many, the good news is the salvation of the soul, where the emphasis is on the spiritual at the cost and without help of worldly needs.

FOR HOW LONG WILL THE CHURCH BE INDIFFERENT, DETACHED AND UNCONCERNED ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING ON ITS DOORSTEP?

This would lead the church and the Christian to substantiate their theological reflection with the right and correct motives. The motif of haste certainly requires that the church and its ministry operate with a certain degree of efficiency and urgency.

INTRODUCTION

It also appears from Smith's argument that inclinations of the latter kind, such as compassion and the desire to be approved, predispose man to society without being sufficient to maintain it. In this chapter we need to focus on the following aspects of spirituality as stated by Cochrane et al. in their publication .. ii) the spirituality of the kingdom of God iii) the gift of discernment .. iv) the spirituality of those in need .. v) a spirituality of empowerment and hope.

DEFINITION OF SPIRITUALITY

But here the focus is on Christian service and obligations based on God's word and guided by his Holy Spirit. This is what Christian spirituality should reveal in the Christian, and this Christian spirituality must be experienced by the beneficiaries, who in this case are the residents.

A SPIRITUALITY OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Because if it is not of this origin, then it is secular social work that can be done and if not better by the trained social worker and sociologist. In order for the spirituality of the Kingdom of God to be understood and experienced by the people in the informal settlements, the church needs to respond affirmatively in this service.

THE GIFT OF DISCERNMENT

If they didn't do this, many would see the church as spiritually important or irrelevant. This is how the church today must be in order to use the gift of discernment and demonstrate the spirituality of the Christian and the church in its response to the needs of those in the informal settlement.

SPIR ITUALITY OF THOSE IN NEED

Thus, what Cochrane et al call the spirituality of the poor actually means that the inhabitants of informal settlements are awakened to their plight through the work of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the inhabitants of the informal settlements, originating from this Christian spirituality, would use the guidance of God's word and the gifts and abilities he has given them to work towards alleviating their misery.

A SPIRITUALITY OF EMPOWERMENT AND HOPE

The second dimension is hope, which applies to those in need, the inhabitants of the Informal Settlements. For the Christian, the gifts of the spirit must lead the individual to experience a spirituality of empowerment and hope.

INTRODUCTION

In this chapter we will focus on the pastoral dimension of the Christian church at the level.

PASTORAL PLANNING

L. would have great spiritual value both for the one who gives it and for the one who receives it, in a situation of service and mission. Therefore, these nine fundamental areas must concern the Christian ministry and its planning in the Informal.

PASTORAL PRACTICE

The church must come to grips with the concept of the 'environment of need'. Here one sees and understands that the incarnation of the Church and the Christian, through being part of the incarnate mediation of Christ, must be accompanied by a sense of boldness and courage.

INTRODUCTION

THE CONCEPT OF THE FOUR SMALLER CIRCLES OF MINISTRY WITHIN THE PASTORAL CIRCLE

This ACTION is guided by the understanding of the faith of the church and the Christian faith in chapter 1, who knows and ACTS on it. All these aspects within the fourth circle work in cooperation with each other and are implemented in Pastoral Practice and Planning in chapter 7.

THE THEOLOGY OF DEVELOPMENT FOR MINISTRY IN THE INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS

  • INTRODUCTION
  • SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE CHURCH'S MINISTRY
  • DEVELOPMENT WITH THE FOCUS ON PROVIDING SERVICES
  • THE ESTABLISHING OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

The church must ensure that it does not fall into the same trap as before by destroying and/or depleting the resources available to carry out its ministry in the informal settlements. There is a strong call for the national, regional, non-governmental organizations, the community, the church and the residents of the informal settlements to be people and institutions of ACTION.

THE CONCEPT OF TWINNING AS A MEANS TO MINISTRY

Do you believe that religious institutions have a role to play in assisting the people of the Informal Settlements. The mismanagement is by the Head of the Informal Settlement, besides that there is not much else.

APPENDIX B

What practical steps could your institution take to help people in informal settlements overcome their adversities? Do you believe that the informal settlements are a response to the demise of inflow control?
