-the young South African musi- cian and journalist, who recently returned to Johannesburg after seven years overseas. He has established the Tudor Players, a new combination of musicians pre- senting light music specially arranged for the microphone, with

Euge~1e Magid as leader and solo- ist. They were heard la t week, and made a good impress1on.

Joseph Sack was born in Johan- nesburg twenty-four years ago, and went to London in 1933 on a South African University S holarship and studied at the Royal A ademy of l\Iusic, winni1.ig the Sir Edward Cooper P1 iz and tho Stokes Bursary. Later he hecam a memb r of th l1on- d 11 ymphony r ·h t ru, and al o id fr quent ll.l . . broad- casts. A fe nights ago fr. Sack was the soloist in the fir broad- cast performance in Johannesburg of the Rococco Variations by Tschaikowsky. On l\Iay 20th and 27th he will present "J kylls and Hydes of Music,"-the first two of a number of f atur programmes which have been written and

be presented by Mr. Sack with the studio orchestra and soloists.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Berelowitz, of George, have been the recipients of numerous messages of congratula- tion o.n the occasion of the 2fith an- niversary of their wedding. At a gathering held last Thursday even- ing at their residence, the happy event was celebrated, and as a token of the esteem in which the couple are held, particularly by the Jewish com- munity, a presentation was made to them. Congratulatory speeches were delivered by Mr. I. Israelsohn (vice- president of . the Hebrew Congrega- tion), by Mr. Harry Comay (pre- sident of the Zionist Society), and by Heverend I. Wolk.

The Berelowitz family is one of the pioneer families of George. :For a number of years Mr. Berelowitz had carried on business at Rondevlei.
