chair. Rev. Reichenberg wished them ''God speed'' and a safe passage through the perils of the war. Other speakers of he evening were Mr. S. Joffe, }fr. J. Shulman, Mrs. Senitzky, Mr. A.Senitzky and Mr. M. \Verb, Chairman of the Y.I. Society.
Due tributes were paid by the speakers to tbe sterling qualities of the departing soldiers, and of the good work they had done for J ewisp causes, for the Stellenbosch Young Israel Society and for the whole of the community generally. Miss Shulman then presented Corporal Segall and Gunner hideckel with a set of ''l\1achzeiriem." A , ong of good wishes-'' Shalom Aleichem,'' was ther.. sung by the gathering, the music being provided by Miss Lorna Friedman.
After the tea interval, t)1e two members suitably replied, after which dancing followed.

Lionel Bowman to Play at Symphony Concert.
.i:Ir. Lionel Bowman, who recently re- turned fo Cape Town from London, will be the soloist at tpe Symphony Concert in the
1ity Hall on Thursday, 26th September, when he will play the oncerto in E Flat Major by Liszt. Although pe has brou<l·
cast since his return this will be his first big musical performance.
Ur. Bowman had a very successful three years in London. During his period of study at the Royal Academy of Music there he has played three Concertos with Sir Henry \¥oood as conductor, one of which was a concerto in F Major by St. Saens wpich, Sir Henry informed Mr. Bowman he had only once previously conducted and it was then played by St. Saens himself.
He also won many awards among which was the l\iathew P)lillimore prize, the Rol- ler Memorial prize for the best perform- ance of a work by Beethoven. and that most coveted prize the Chappell Gold Medal.

"Strictly Kosher" or who have the words Kosher on their premises are not under the supervision of the Beth-Din, and the Beth- Din does not guarantee and is not responsible for the Kashruth of the meat sold there.
