MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF THE SWEDISH PEOPLES PARLIAMENT AGAINST APARTHEID, FEBRUARY 21
BY DR DAVIDSON NICOL, PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD FEDERATION OF U .N . ASSOCIATIONS
The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) has condemned apartheid and featured prominently in various acitivities in support of the struggle against the obnoxious system both in our various Plenary Assemblies and at our Regional meetings .
We indicated our resentment against the apartheid system in Africa last year and we hope to reiterate our position in much more
stronger terms in another African activity at our regional Head- quarters in Accra, Ghana, at the end of the year .
In no uncertain terms we condemn apartheid because it is legalized racism and a general infringement on the fundamental principles of human rights .
WFUNA fully supports all resolutions passed by the United Nations against apartheid and in support of the independence of Namibia .
WFUNA has itself passed very strong resolutions which have been circulated to all member countries of the United Nations .

Against Apartheid WFUNA wishes especially to thank the Swedish government and parliament as well as the Swedish people for the exceptionally wonderful support they have given to the struggle towards the elimination of racial discrimination and apartheid in South Africa .
WFUNA also wishes to take this opportunity of thanking our affi- liate organization, The Swedish United Nations Association in- cluding all its member organs for assisting in the organization of this important conference .
We wish to re-echo the major part they have played in the general struggle against apartheid and in the right towards equality of opportunity for all races and communities in South Africa and Namibia for which we firmly pledge our continued and determined support .
On behalf of all members of WFUNA and on my own behalf I wish your conference and deliberations success .
