The National Police Commissioner, Fanie Masemola, handed over the sword of command to the newly appointed provincial commissioner, Koliswa Otola, who was appointed in August this year. STELLALANDER-KURUMAN: Four accused, Norton Carld Howard (43), Charles Moses Howard (56), Jezeral Selvin (39) and Kenshia Charlene Howard (36) made a brief appearance before the Kuruman Magistrates’ Court facing charges of fraud.
It is alleged that during April 2010, Norton Howard fraudulently used Kallies Business Enterprise CC credentials to bid for a tender advertised by Anglo American which is Kathu Khumba Iron Ore. As
a result of misrepresentation, he was awarded the tender of plant maintenance.
It is further alleged that in August 2018, Howard made a misrepresentation to CIPC. Howard submitted another fraudulent resolution to CIPC that the members of Kallies Enterprise resigned.
As a result, the membership of the close
corporation was amended where the father and siblings of the suspect were added as new members of the entity. The prejudice to the complainant is R61 million. Norton was granted R50 000 bail whereas the other accused were released on R30 000 bail each. The matter was postponed to 3 November for further investigation.

Nonnie Scheepers inspireer en motiveer lede van Vryburg VLV om kerse te gebruik tydens beurtkrag. ‘n Kersie in ‘n wynglas met ‘n papierskerm is ideaal om die regte atmosfeer aan die etenstafel te skep.
Nonnie vertoon ‘n wye verskeidenheid van kandelare, maar gebruik ook ongewone houers
soos ‘n vleismeul, leë blikkieskosblikkies of glasbottels. Kerse word simbolies gebruik
soos by troues waar elke familie ‘n kers aansteek en die bruid en bruidegom dan een kers saam aansteek. Kerse word gebruik om mylpale te vier, soos verjaarsdae of ter herinnering aan ‘n afgestorwe geliefde. ‘n Blommekrans met ‘n geurige kers kan ook
as blyk van simpatie gegee word. Marthie Grobler het ook riglyne gegee vir volgende maand se rangskikking met die tema ‘ingeboks’.

STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Sewe mense - vier vroue en drie mans - is dood en drie ander in ‘n kritieke toestand na twee motorvoertuie, ‘n VW Polo en Madza Midge, Saterdagoggend, 24 September reg van voor gebots het.
Volgens die Noord-Kaap Polisiewoordvoerder, lt- kol Segio Kock het die ongeluk ongeveer 13km buite Kuruman op die R31-pad plaasgevind. Paramedici het kort voor 12:00 op die toneel aangekom en een van die voertuie op sy dak gevind en die ander voertuig ‘n ent verder wag van die pad aangetref. In die Mazda Midge is ‘n pa Gavin Jacobs (40), sy swanger vrou Schantel Jacobs (39) en hulle negejarige dogter Eliza Jacobs asook Schantel se susterskind Carol Joseph (14) en George Joseph (40) op die toneel dood verklaar. Die familie was op pad van Kuruman na Daniëlskuil terwyl die insittendes van die Polo waarskynlik van Postmasburg
in die rigting van Kuruman onderweg was. Twee persone in die Volkswagen Polo is by die paramedici se aankoms dood verklaar en drie mans, almal insittendes van die Polo, is in ‘n kritieke toestand na ‘n hospitaal in Kuruman geneem. Paramedici het die beseerdes op die toneel behandel voor hulle na ‘n hospitaal geneem is. Dit is die tweede groot ongeluk in minder as ‘n maand buite Kuruman. 11 mense is op 4 September in ‘n ongeluk op die N1 buite Kuruman dood. Bankrot munisipaliteit wil geld bestee aan raadswerkswinkel
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Die Demokratiese Alliansie (DA) in die Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati Distriksmunisipaliteit (DRSM) het beswaar gemaak teen ‘n beplande raadswerkswinkel by Hartbeestpoortdam, 400 km buite die munisipaliteit om beleide en strukture te hersien.
Volgens die DA is dié werkswinkel niks anders as ‘n luukse wegbreek met kostes wat tienduisende rande kan beloop, geld wat veronderstel is om aangewend te word vir die verbetering in die verskaf van skoon water aan gemeenskappe. Die DRSM was voorheen onder ‘n artikel 139(5) finansiële administrasie weens sy onvermoë om aan sy grondwetlike mandaat te voldoen in die verskaffing van grootmaat water- en sanitasiedienste aan plaaslike munisipaliteite.
Die DA het ook aan die LUR van COGHSTA, Lenah Miga, die Noordwes Premier, Bushy Maape,
en die LUR vir Finansies, Motlalepula Rosho geskryf en hulle versoek om dié selfsugtige en verkwistende beplande uitgawe stop te sit.
Daar is meer as genoeg geskikte lokale binne die Distrikskantore om hierdie werkswinkel aan te bied.
Dit is heeltemal onaanvaarbaar vir die munisipaliteit om geld aan reis, verblyf en spyseniering te bestee terwyl inwoners regoor die distrik daaglikse watertoevoeronderbrekings beleef en rou riool wat vrylik in strate afvloei.
Die DA sal aanhou om in die Raad te veg vir die verbetering van water- en sanitasiedienste en sal nie deelneem aan die ANC-beheerde DRSM-misbruik van belastingbetalersgeld nie.

STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: On Wednesday, 21 September a police official from Vryburg was conducting visible patrols in Church Street, when a Naledi Municipal patroller informed him of a suspicious looking person.
Upon searching of this person, a backpack was found containing dagga that were pre- packed for sale, as well as cash. A 37-year-old man was arrested and dagga with an estimated street value of R1000 was confiscated.
The suspect paid an admission of guilt fine of R2000 at the Vryburg Magitrates’ Court. In a second unrelated incident, members of Vryburg K9 unit and Crime Prevention members were conducting visible patrols on 22 September, when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking man that was walking along French Street.
During the search police found drugs in possession of the 30-year-old suspect that included Methaqualone (Mandrax) tablets, Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (Ecstacy), Methamphetamine (Crystal meth) and Methcathinone (CAT) with an estimated street value of R18700.
Hashimu Issa appeared in the Vryburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 23 September and was granted bail.

STELLALANER-VRYBURG: Dis ‘n nuwe seisoen met nuwe lewe wat orals in die natuur en diereryk te sien is.
Dis ook weer tyd vir Piet Plessis Boerevereniging om die vere reg te skud vir die jaarlikse Vetveeskou wat nasionaal in 2017 as die tweede beste skou bekroon is.

Die Amerikaanse mieliemarkpryse het gemiddeld tussen 2% en 3% gedaal nadat hoë inflasie, stygende rentekoerse en resessievrese die meeste voorraad- en kommoditeitspryse in die rooi laat verhandel het. Pryse het gedaal ná ‘n rondte tegniese verkope met oesdruk wat verder bygedra het tot afwaartse druk. Frankryk se 2022 mielie-oes is 26% voltooi op 19 September. Die oes het baie vroeër as normaalweg begin weens warm en droë toestande wat die oes erg beskadig het. Slegs 43% van die oes is in ‘n goeie-tot-uitstekende toestand.
Produksie kan die kleinste sedert 1990 vir Europa se voorste graanprodusent wees.
Plaaslik: Plaaslike mieliepryse het gemeng, maar meestal positief gesluit in Maandag se verhandelingsessie. Beide winste en verliese was maar marginaal met pryse wat relatief sywaarts beweeg.
Die verswakkende wisselkoers verlig die effekte van die swakker Amerikaanse mark. Die witmieliekontrak het vir Oktober R12/ton sterker verhandel vir die dag om teen R4 802/ton te sluit. Witmielies vir lewering in Desember het R13/ton hoër verhandel teen R4 870/
ton. Die geelmieliekontrak vir Oktober 2022 het R1/ton sterker verhandel teen R4 710/ton. Die geelmieliekontrak het vir lewering in Desember teen R4 800/ton verhandel, R12/ton sterker.
Sojabone:
Die Amerikaanse sojaboonmark was ook nie immuun teen die ekonomiese smarte van hoë inflasie, stygende rentekoerse en resessievrese nie. Pryse het gemiddeld met 2% gedaal ná ‘n rondte tegniese verkope met pryse wat verder onder druk geplaas is deur vraag vrese. China sal nog sojabone in staatsbesit verkoop om plaaslike pryse te verlaag en plaaslike aanbod te verhoog.
Plaaslik: Die plaaslike sojaboonmark het beduidend swakker verhandel weens negatiewe marksentiment. Die verswakkende wisselkoers het verliese in toom gehou. Pryse het tussen 0,6% en 1,1% laer verhandel. Die sojaboon Oktober ’22-kontrak het R61/ton swakker verhandel teen R9 245/ton. Die sojaboon Desember ’22-kontrak het R67/ton laer verhandel teen R9 399/ton. Die sojaboon Mei ’23-kontrak het teen R8 710/ton, R98/
ton laer, verhandel.
Koring:
Die Amerikaanse koringmark het ‘n wye reeks ander kommoditeite laer gevolg weens groeiende wêreldwye resessievrese, terwyl ‘n baie sterk Amerikaanse dollar tans bykomende skade aan pryse aanrig.
Onlangse reën in Oekraïne het grondvog op hul beste vlak in ‘n dekade gelaat. Die Russiese koringoes sal na verwagting steeds hoog wees, maar uitvoer sal waarskynlik aan die laer kant bly.
Plaaslik: Koringpryse het aan die positiewe kant verhandel met pryse wat tussen 0,4% en 0,7% toegeneem het. Die koring Oktober ‘22-kontrak het teen R6 990/
ton verhandel, R30/ton hoër. Die koring Desember ’22-kontrak het teen R7 069/ton verhandel, R52/ton sterker.

Public warned against scammers
STELLALANDER-KURUMAN: The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation has noted with concern a rise in scamming incidents where victims are swindled out of their hard earned money under false pretense around Northern Cape Province, John Taolo Gaetsewe District and Kuruman in particular.
The public is being cautioned about criminals purporting to be witchdoctors who claim that they can multiply money into thousands of rand and those claiming to assist people with their pension applications at a fee. This comes after numerous cases were reported to the Directorate in the past few weeks. The public is also warned to take
caution when buying items online. They are warned to be vigilant with their money and if anyone falls into such scams, they should be aware of the possible loss of their hard earned money. If any person suspects such criminality it should immediately be reported to the nearest police station.
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: - Klaas Dintwe (29), Tebogo Mocumi (29) en Olehile Uithaler (31) bly in aanhouding na hulle Donderdag, 22 September in die Sannieshof periodiekehof verskyn het.
Hulle sal na verwagting weer op Dinsdag, 27 September in die Delareyville landdroshof op ‘n aanklag van besigheidsroof verskyn. Daar is berig dat die trio na bewering in die vroeë oggendure van Maandagoggend, 19 September toegang tot die winkel in Uitbreiding 7, Delareyville, verkry het. Die verdagtes het die diefwering se deur oopgebreek en die dak oopgesny. Hulle het na bewering, ‘n werknemer wat in ‘n kamer aangrensend aan die besigheid geslaap het, oorrompel en aangerand en daarna ‘n onbekende bedrag kontant, sigarette, kruideniersware, klere, tekkies en elektroniese toerusting geneem voor hulle op die vlug geslaan het.
Daaropvolgende ondersoeke het gelei tot positiewe identifikasie en die verbintenis van die verdagtes met die misdaad. Hulle is die volgende dag Dinsdag, 20 September suksesvol opgespoor en in hegtenis geneem. Tydens die inhegtenisname het die polisie beslag gelê op items soos kruideniersware en ‘n baadjie wat tydens die voorval beroof is.
Die provinsiale polisiekommissaris, luitenant-generaal Sello Kwena, het die ondersoekspan gelukgewens met uitstekende werk en benadruk dat die polisie vasbeslote is om te verseker dat misdadigers tot verantwoording geroep word vir hul optrede.

Matriek 1968 hou reünie
STELLALANDER - VRYBURG: Oor die twee jaar lank is daar op inistiatief van Dirk van Ryn wat in Australië woonagtig is, ‘n whatsapp reünie groep van die 1968 matrikulante van Hoërskool Vryburg begin.
‘n Hele paar oud-leerders word opgespoor en die reëlings vir ‘n reünie word deel van Covid grendeltyd se daaglikse aktiwiteit. Covid eis nog
‘n paar bekendes en ontwrig planne vir die reünie.
Skoolmaats begin beplan vir eendag as hul weer vry is om te ry en te kuier. Na die grendeltyd aan ‘n einde gekom het, word die reünie in alles erns bespreek en beplan. ‘n Komittee met Kollie Wessels, Anney de Kock, Estelle Höll, Nellie Reardon en Heleen Venter word verkies wat die leisels vat en die wiele laat draai. Groot planne vir die reünie word beraam en daar heers van die staanspoor ‘n geweldige gees onder die deelnemers. Uiteindelik breek 23 September 2022 aan en die oud-leerders word welkom geheet deur Louis en Linda van Niekerk met die oorhandiging van 'n pragtige sleutelhouer met skoolwapen en foto op. Die ‘Flower Power 1968 bussie’
staan gereed om weg te trek na ‘n onbekende bestemming. Die maats arriveer in hul sixties gewaad. Klassiek- sommige heel onherkenbaar.
Robert Henson en vrou Yvonne steel die “show”
met hul kostuums en wen die prys. Na die neem van ‘n aantal foto’s by die 1968 bussie, begin die groot gesels. Daar word ‘n lyn en lepel speletjie gespeel as ysbreker onder leiding van Noreen Daly. Klankman Johan van Loggerenberg, voorsien treffermusiek van die sestigerjare waarop heerlik gedans word. Sarel Herbst en Noreen Daly wen die prys vir dans koning en koningin.
Op 24 September word daar wéér ‘n klasfoto by die skool geneem en word die groep deur Eddie en Ansie Cilliers op ‘n interessante begeleide toer deur die skool geneem. Almal dink met heimwee terug aan hul jong stoute sorgvrye dae.
Leerders by die reünie het ook hulde gebring aan hulle ontslape klasmaats deur kerse aan te steek.
Onderhoofdogter, Margie Henning, lewer ‘n kort en kragtige toespraak, waarna die skoollied uit volle bors gesing word. ‘n Skyfievertoning van ou foto’s van klasmaats word gewys. Sondag gaan almal saam na ‘n kerkdiens waarna “Pitkos vir die oudag” briefies uitgeruil word. Almal vertrek moeg, maar met ‘n blymoedige hart na hul huise.

STELLALANDER - VRYBURG: If you want to ensure that your favourite wedding photo wins our Happily Hitched competition, you have less than a week to bring out your votes.
Voting started on 9 September and will close this Friday, 30 September. The winning photo – pocketing R 10 000 - will be the one who receives a reasonably balanced amount of votes on all three voting platforms – Facebook, website and newspaper ballot. On Facebook you will find the Happily Hitched voting album on our page.
You vote by simply liking your favourite photo. On our website you vote by purchasing a ballot for R 2-00 completing it and submitting it there online. Via newspaper ballot, you simply complete the printed ballot and then hand your original ballot in at our offices at Stellalander, 33 Molopo Street, Vryburg. The winner of the competition will be announced in the Stellalander on 12 October.
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Die Covid-19-pandemie en die inperkings wat veral die gasvryheidsbedryf lamgelê het, is agter die rug en die bedryf is volgens Statistieke Suid-Afrika (StatsSA) weer volstoom aan die gang.
Die algehele inkomste wat die voedsel- en drankbedryf in Julie vanjaar gegenereer het, het met 55,8% toegeneem in vergelyking met Julie verlede jaar, toe die land nog in ʼn staat van inperking was.
Restaurante en koffiewinkels het die grootste styging ondervind: ʼn Toename van 82,6% in Julie vanjaar, in vergelyking met dieselfde tyd verlede jaar.
Dit het 34 persentasiepunte tot die algehele styging van die totale kos- en drankverkope bygedra. Spysenieringdienste het ’n styging van 52,3% in dieselfde tydperk getoon, gevolg deur wegneemetes en kitskosrestaurante op 32%. Die inkomste wat in Julie uit kroegverkope gemaak is, was 81,6% hoër wanneer dit met die syfers van Julie verlede jaar vergelyk word. Seisoenaal aangepaste inkomste vir die kos- en drankbedryf het in Julie vanjaar met 6%
toegeneem wanneer dit met Junie vergelyk word. Dit het gevolg op maand-tot-maand-veranderinge van 0,3% in Junie en 0,0% in Mei.
Gasvryheidsbedryf groei weer
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Die Graad 8A-leerders van Hoërskool Vryburg het ‘n gedeelte van Vryburg skoongemaak as deel van hulle fondsinsamelingprojek.
Alhoewel die klas sakke en sakke vol vullis rondom die ou swembad opgeruim het, bly die swembad met vuil water, dooie diere, bourommel en tuinvullis ‘n gesondheidsrisiko en seer oog in die dorp.
Tokkie Ferreira Makelaars het die klas, wat die gebied rondom die ou dorp swembad in Molopoweg skoongemaak het, beloon met R10 000. Jan Brand en Wilton Viljoen het ook donasies
aan die klas gegee. Dié fondsinsameling is deel van die jaarlikse projek wat Graad 8-leerders loots om geld vir skoolfonds in te samel om die las van skoolfonds vir elke huisgesin ligter te maak. Daar is ‘n gesonde kompetisie tussen klasse en groot pryse is op die spel vir die klas en leerder wat die meeste geld insamel. Verlede jaar is ‘n bedrag van R 100 000 ingesamel.

Die Lions Karoo to Coast bergfiets uitdaging is ‘n 100 km roete van nuwe terrein van Uniondale na Knysna via die Prince Albert pas. Die roete deur mooi landskap is ‘n uitdaging vir enige bergfiets entoesias. Daar was slegs 4500 inskrywings vir dié uitdaging beskikbaar.

Karoo 2 Coast bergfietsuitdaging
STELLALANDER-JAN KEMPDORP: Die jaarlikse Kameeldoring Classic gholftoernooi is vanaf 22 tot 24 September aangebied. ‘n Totaal van 86 spelers, vanaf so ver as Potchefstroom, Vryburg, Kathu, Douglas en Kimberley, het oor die drie dae meegeding vir die trofee.
Daar was daaglikse ook pryse te wen. Dag een se pryswenner is Chris-Marie Burger van Jan Kempdorp met 45 punte, dag twee het Fanie Rheerder van Jan Kempdorp met 42 punte gewen en die derde dag se wenner was Charlie Ward van Vryburg met 42 punte. Die algehele wenner van die toernooi is Chris-Marie Burger met ‘n totaal van 114 punte. Die mans wenner is Charlie Ward met 113 punte en die vrouewenner is René Kotze van Douglas met 106 punte.
