25,000 Attend Folk Dance Festival

JERUSALEM, Tuesday.-More

than 25,000 people who came in 2,000 cars, innumerable horse- drawn carts and on foot, at- tended a folk-dance festival at Kibbutz Dahlia on June 21. The festival lasted throughout the

night,

and was one of the grand- est shows of rejuvenated folk

traditions

ever seen here.

The youth dancing and singing en masse and indefatiguably before thousands of enchanted visitors, was performed against a background of moonlit hills.

The Rabbinate to-day publicly protested against the violation of the Sabbath at the Dahlia dance fes- tival, and the Vaad Leumi addressed a formal communication to the Histadrut.

Arabs and Druzes also took part and the traditional fellaheen Debka sword-dance was most warmly ap- plauded.

The festival was a paragon of or- derliness-Dahlia belongs to Hash- omer Hatzair-and went off without a hitch. \Vhile in previous years the ma.i or portion of the programme was devoted to dances of foreign inspira- tion, from the Cossacks to Scottish reels, this year it was completely Palestinian in theme.

GOLDMANN'S ADDRESS TO WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS

BUENOS AIRES, Monday. - Dr.

Nahum Goldmann declared at the opening of the Latin American Con- ference of the "World Jewish Con- gress" that concessions would be necessary in order to secure a solution of the Palestine problem, but the Yishuv was sufficiently strong to pre- vent its exclusion from the World's Agenda.

He denounced terrorism in the strongest terms and declared that the establishment of a Jewish State would not solve the problem of world Jewry, since the majority of Jews would con- tinue to live outside of Palestine for many years.
