A club meeting was held in the Ch eder on the 26th ult., Mr. R. Hoffmann pre iding. A paper of anecdo~es was read by Master David andler, followed by a brief parliamentary "session," which proved a great success_.

The ervice during the rncent High Fe tivals were well attended. These were conducted by the Rev.

Ro in a si ted by Me sr . S. :Myer and H. Rosenberg.

Owing to in di position, .Mr. Ro in wa unable to preach. on Rosh Hashonah. He, however, conducted th.e s~rvice, a sisted by his choir, which was a ource of grat~fi.cat10n. to the congreg'lttion. On Yom Kippur, 1\Ir. Rosm_, havmg recovered from his illnes ably conducted the service. Mr.

Ro in preached a sermon 'during the Atonement on the sub- ject "God is my refuge," and made a strong appeal to par~nts to co-operate with him in hi effort on. behalf. of Hebrew education. The importance of Hebrew is growmg day by day, l\fr. Ro in remarked. Hebrew should not only be taught as a mean of prayer at the Synagogue, but hould be taught as a living language f~om th national point of view-the restoration of Palestrne.

The annual general meeting of the local Hebrew Con- gregation took place on the 5th ult. at the Guild Hall, with Mr. B. I. Hoffman, the Pre ident, in the chair. There was a good attendance. Mr. Hoffman, in pre enting his report, read thE> minister's minute, in which all the branches of congregational and communal work were dealt with. The mini ter made several suggestion in the interest of Judai m which were appreciated and adopted,
