New travel regulations now in affect
BONUS – RUSTENBURG – The new, and somewhat controversial, Passport and Travel Documents Act offi cially took effect from Monday, 1 June, the Rustenburg Herald was told.
Under the new legislation, South Africans and foreign nationals travelling with children under the age of 18 are required to produce Unabridged Birth Certifi cates. The implementation of the new legislation is part of government’s commitment to safeguard the best interests of children and prevent child traffi cking.
Last week, the Department of Home Affairs
said parents who needed to travel with their children and couldn’t get Unabridged Birth Certifi cates in time, would be able to leave the country with a letter indicating that they had applied for the documents.
Under the new law, all minors under the age of 18 years will be required to produce, in addition to their passport, an Unabridged Birth Certifi cate (showing the particulars of both parents) when exiting and entering South African ports of entry.
In the event of a child travelling with a person other than a parent, the Unabridged Birth Certifi cate must be supplemented by affi davits from the parents or legal guardians confi rming that the child may travel with that person.
In the event where a child is travelling as an unaccompanied minor, not only the Unabridged Birth Certifi cate, but also proof of consent from both parents or legal guardians and contact details, and documentation relating to the person receiving the child in South Africa, would have to be produced.
Suspects to appear for various crimes
BONUS – RUSTENBURG – A 31-year-old suspect was due to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 1 June, on charges of rape.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 30 May, the suspect and the victim (25) were at a tavern at Matebeleng informal settlement near Kroondal when the suspect allegedly grabbed and dragged her to his house where he allegedly raped her, the Rustenburg Herald was told
The suspect allegedly fell asleep and the victim managed to escape and reported the matter to the police. The suspect was later arrested.
Meanwhile, two suspects age 25 and 26 also appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of Robbery with
Weapon other than a Firearm, Major Pelonomi Makau of the North West SAPS stated.
It is alleged that the 33-year-old victim, who is a photographer, was at a tavern taking some pictures when he was approached by two suspects who grabbed and dragged him to the R510 road where they assaulted and threatened him with a knife.
The suspect was subsequently robbed of his cell phones, a digital camera, a printer, undisclosed amount of cash and memory cards. They fl ed the scene but were later arrested.
Captain Augoustides says
“farewell, Rustenburg”
BONUS – RUSTENBURG – Captain Elsabé Augoustides, former member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) for the past 34 years and Commander of Corporate Communication for the Rustenburg SAPS, has left the Service to join the hospitality industry in the South Coast.
Captain Augoustides told Bonus sister publication the Rustenburg Herald on Thursday, 28 May, that she was 17 years old when she joined the SAPS. “I was too young to have a service weapon but when I started practicing on the shooting range I rather enjoyed the marksmanship,” Captain Augoustides stated.
After completing her training at the SAPS College in Pretoria, Captain Augoustides was commission in Welkom where she served until 2002 when she was moved to Klerksdorp and later came to Rustenburg after her husband was employed here as a cost accountant.
“I remember every crime scene and especially the details of each and it defi nitely exposes one to the ways in which crime changes people,”
Captain Augoustides stated. Some of her more fond memories will
be of the positive projects hosted in Klerksdorp under Brigadier Govender as well as working with the media in 2010 for the Fifa Soccer World Cup.
For the full report see this week’s issue of the Rustenburg Herald.

BONUS - RUSTENBURG - The popular and well-known actor Frank Opperman of similarly popular TV programme
“Orkney snork nie” is back on stage with a brand new Afrikaanse production of “Die Klaagliedere van ds Tienie Benade”. This is a story of the bitter and sweet of life’ battles and hope that always prefails. A time wherein more and more people are becoming unfaithful to their church and of the reverend having his hands full to herd his congregation in the right direction. This show was one of the ten best at the KKNK box offi ce and is doing very well across the country. The text was written by the Afrikaans author Dana Snyman and was directed by Gerrit Schoonhoven.
Great news is that “Die Klaagliedere van ds Tienie Benade” will be staged at the “Nedertduitsch Hervormde Kerk” in 153 Kock Street Rustenburg on Youth Day - Tuesday, 16 June. The doors will open at 10:30 and the show will start at exactly 11:00. Tickets are available at R100 for adults and R50 for students and learners at Pen
& Ink, the NHK Church on (014) 592 6900 or Frikkie Krüger on 082 445 4336. More information is available on 082 484 4955.
Remember that a variety of great South African
(Rustenburg?) traditional food (“boerekos”) will be available on the day - come treat yourself to
“koffi ekoeksisters”, or “melktertpannekoek”. There’s also typical South African favourites such as “pap &
kaiings”, “boerewors rolls”, curry & rice, and freshly baked bread. Remember - this is a public holiday so bring the children and the entire family for a day of fun in the sun! There will be lots of entertainment for the young ones will the adults enjoy the “dominee” on stage and all the eats and drinks! Make sure you are among the guests!
Community warned to protect motorcycles
BONUS – RUSTENBURG – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the North West has become concerned about reported number of motorcycles theft cases when compared to the same period last year.
This crime is prevalent in Rustenburg as well as Potchefstroom and committed mostly during the day and night at residential places.
It is apparent that criminals target and steal motor cycles that are left unattended at schools or at sporting activities. Others are stolen while outside residential premises, basement parking, parking bays in front of shops and outside houses or unlocked garages.
The police are working hard to maintain visibility to curb the crime generally, but the community assistance can also go a long way in the fi ght against
this crime. The community is requested to cautious and take heed and apply the following safety hints:
If your motor cycle is parked outside during the night, ensure that it is parked in a well-lit area, ensure that the garage where your motor cycle is kept, is securely locked, where possible use, the services of recognised car watchers at malls, always be alert of suspicious person at parking bays and report them to mall securities or the police.
A defrauder in Rustenburg wanted
BONUS – RUSTENBURG – The police in Rustenburg are looking for a man going by the name of Mr Moropa who is accused of defrauding a number of people in Rustenburg and the surrounding areas, under the disguise that he will acquire jobs for them at Rustenburg mines.
A number of his victims approached the police in Rustenburg to lay a charge against him, the Rustenburg Herald was told this week. His victims allegedly deposited cash into his bank account varying from R1 100 to R1 500 for the job promises he never met.
Police would like to warn members of the community to stop paying for jobs they are not certain with, for a quick cash. The rule of thumb usually applies that when you are asked money for a job offer, it is worth investigating whether or not it may be a scam.
Those who have been victimised by Mr Moropa may call Detective Capt.
Patrick Murunwa of the Rustenburg Cluster on 082 772 5991.

Kopano Rabothata in Grade 8, Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng helps load the trailer with E-waste.
David Pellow and his team from Eff ortless Recycling collect electronic waste at Deutsche Schule Kroondal.
E-waste collected to support green economy
BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Three schools Lebone II College, Deutsche Schule Kroondal and Paardekraal Primary have under the umbrella of the WESSA Eco-Schools programme joined forces to support the green economy in South Africa.
The schools have worked together to collect computers, printers, electrical household appliances in suffi cient quantities to warrant Effortless Recycling from Johannesburg collecting the materials. Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, zinc, and cadmium will be recovered from this electronic waste known as e-waste and used to make new items.
Without this company’s intervention the redundant electronic equipment would have ended up in a landfi ll or worse yet dumped in undeveloped areas. Either way a pollution risk would follow as the substances of which the e-waste is composed of reacted to falling rain or oxygen and started to decompose.
The three schools are role model schools and
are working towards achieving their Green fl ags for 2015. This means that they have been actively participating in green activities and learning for almost three years.

BONUS - RUSTENBURG - The Department of Energy informs the public of the fuel price adjustments for June 2015. South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors. International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set by the global markets, including shipping costs.
The main reason for the fuel price increase is the high crude oil prices which resulted in higher prices (on average) for all the petroleum products in the international markets in May 2015 compared to April 2015.
# The Rand appreciated against the US Dollar compared to the previous fuel price review period.
# The international price of Brent crude oil increased on average during the period under review compared to the previous one. The US crude stockpiles fell for a second straight week, suggesting the world’s biggest oil market is rebalancing. Furthermore, the renewed tensions in the Middle East (Iraq) which raised worries about the security of supply of crude oil.
# The International product prices increased on average, following the Brent crude oil prices, during the period under review.
Based on current local and international factors, the fuel prices for June 2015 in Gauteng will be adjusted as follows:
# Diesel (0.005% Sulphur) will increase by 49.00 cents/ litre
# Diesel (0.05% Sulphur) will increase by 46.00 cents/ litre
# Petrol (all grades) will increase by 47.00 cents per litre.
# Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will increase by 56.00 cents per litre
# Illuminating paraffin (wholesale price) will increase by 42.00 cents per litre
# Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will increase by 100.00 cents per kilogram
Fuel price adjustments
RUSTENBURG HER- ALD - RUSTENBURG - There is little doubt that the North West Province is popular as a game and hunting desti- nation.
This winter hunting, game farms and lodges will be another “big”
pastime. Did you know that Rustenburg Herald is hosting a hunting photo competition with a cash prize of R1 000 up for grabs? All you have to do is to send us a good quality photo of the hunter and his/
her trophy. We need to know who the hunter is, what the trophy is, which weapon was used, the farm/lodge/
area, the distance more or less, and perhaps something interesting about the conditions.
You might be the win- ner of R1 000 in cash.
Send you photos to waldie@rustenburgh- erald.co.za or cecile@

A WHITE WOMAN TESTIFIES HER SECRET OF SUCCESS
Life is what you make - indeed my name is Anette van Wyk staying in Sandton, am a mother of three children. I have been reading testimonies about Baba Moyo in newspapers everyday, but I couldn’t believe it, till I read last Sunday testimony from my fair white woman by the name Chintonia Duma. I decided to call Baba Moyo and he only told me that he can help me only if I could believe, because it is not for everybody, but for those that will believe, and he asked which one among the short boys, Rats, Magic Wallet, Winning of Power Ball, Lotto,Casino, then I chose the short boy to put money in my Bank Account. Surprisingly after two hours R1,8 million was in my account and I was so excited and greatful to myself.
