Dr. rank l i 1 th t h ha ob- rved th t the hobbi s taken up by hildren often 1 <.I to th ir ability to enter into v rious branches of work and profes ons when they grew up.

At p es nt Jewish children were en- comaged to enter chiefly the legal and medical professions, whereas if they lea1nt constructive hobbies as children they might take up various forms of craftmanship \Vhen they grew to manhood.

Speaking of the present world situ- ation, Dr. Frankel said that it was not o mu h a question of a Jewish probl m as a problem of the decline of Western civilisation. Jews suf- fered with all Christians who stood for civilisation and religious liberty.

Speaking of nis recent visit to Aus- tralia, Dr. Frankel said that there wa~ a Jewish community of 30,000 souls who appeared to be united in their communal work. They had lately raised £50,000 towards assist- ing refugees, quite a number of whom were arriving in the country.

Dr. Frankel concluded by saying that the British Commonwealth of Nations wa.c; undoubtedly the finest bulwark against the forces which were tending to destroy civilisation and liberty.

Mr. M. Pelkowitz proposed a vote of thanks to Dr. Frankel.
