Wanted man hands himself over to SAPS Brits
He appeared in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on the same day and was remanded in custody till Thursday, 14 October 2021.
“It is alleged that during the night of 22 April 2021, three individuals were kidnapped (two females and one male) from Elandspoort, Pretoria in Gauteng Province,” says Colonel Adéle Myburgh, SAPS spokesperson. “The following day, 23 April 2021, the three victims were shot and buried in a shallow grave at Zandfontein, Brits (North West). Their bodies were discovered on Friday, 30 April 2021.”

BRITIS POS – BRITS – Die publiek word gewaarsku dat georganiseerde groepe saamwerk om motoriste in Brits te beroof, nadat talle gevalle op sosiale media en by die Brits Pos aangemeld is.
Donderdag, 30 September 2021, omstreeks 10:00 het twee mans, op die h/v Murray- en De Wittslaan toegeslaan. Hulle het die slagoffer van De Wittslaan, waar sy by ‘n apteek was dopgehou en ongelukkig het sy nie haar voertuig se deure gesluit nie en was sy dus ‘n maklike teiken.
‘n Boef het een van deure oopgeruk en toe sy na hom kyk, het nog ‘n man die ander deur oopgeruk en haar handsak met selfoon, Id- en bankkaarte gegryp en gehardloop. Hulle is so arrogant en ingeoefen, dat hulle in die hardloop van klerasie verander, sodat hulle nie geëien kan word nie. En die gesteelde goedere verwissel ook gou hande en word van die een na die ander aangegee. Dieselfde modus operandi word telkens gevolg, net op ‘n ander plek.
Dinsdag, 12 Oktober 2021 het die slagoffer en haar kleindogter, ook in Murraylaan voor Mr Price stilgehou. ‘n Vrou, in ‘n netjiese pienk rok het, wat gelyk het of sy by die motor verby wou loop, het weer omgedraai en toe weer vorentoe beweeg, maar oogkontak met ‘n man in ‘n wit hemp, wat voor die motor gestaan het, gemaak en toe aan die motoris se venster geklop en gesê sy wil praat. Die deure was gesluit. Die bestuurder het beduie dat sy nie die venster gaan afdraai nie. Die verdagte het drie keer probeer.
Die bestuurder het besluit om nie uit te klim nie en weg te ry. Sy maak toe ‘n U-draai en dieselfde verdagte vrou loop toe oor die pad na
‘n ander man wat ook die hele tyd daar gestaan het en sy beduie toe na ‘n ander motor wat daar geparkeer was met ‘n vrou in en die vrou met die pienk rok stap toe na haar toe, maar sy kon nie sien wat verder gebeur het nie. Klaarblyklik het dieselfde met ‘n vrou, op 5 Oktober, by
Kremetartsentrum, reg voor die meubelwinkel gebeur en ook verlede week by Edelweiss-sentrum, waar mans vir die bestuurder van die motor gesê het ‘n band van die voertuig is pap en toe sy uitklim, haar beroof het. Wees paraat, sorg dat jou motordeure altyd gesluit is en indien moontlik, plaas goedere in die kattebak en nie in die voertuig waar skelms dit kan sien nie.
Sluit jou voertuig se deure en moenie ‘n handsak of beursie in jou hand op straat dra nie. Wees pro-aktief, veral met die feestyd wat op hande is en kriminele elemente daarop uit is om van die verrassingselement gebruik te maak en op sagte teikens te fokus.

On Saturday, 9 October 2021, police were notified of an alleged murder victim (31) at a clinic in Bapong. There police found a deceased man with serious wounds to his head and neck.
Apparently, he was attacked with a pool cue outside a local tavern after a heated argument. “The alleged attacker was arrested on Saturday by SAPS Mooinooi and he appeared before the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 October,” says Captain Aafje Botma, SAPS spokesperson, North West.
“Patrick Baloyi (35) is in custody until his bail applicaton will be brought before the same court on Monday, 18 October,” Botma concluded.

BRITS POS – ASSEN – Police members at Assen joined forces with Community Policing Forum (CPF) members and heeded to the call to pay tribute to senior citizens by conducting an awareness campaign at Msholozi informal settlement, next to the Greens shopping complex on the R511 (Thabazimbi Road).
Warrant Officer Makgopela sensetised older persons about criminal activities that they are more often subjected to due to their vulnerability, such as domestic violence, physical abuse whereby elders are assaulted by their children, economical abuse whereby their pension grant is taken by their children or in other instances by grandchildren, sexual abuse and rape that are not reported.
The older persons were urged to break the silence on the afore-mentioned genres of abuse and report them to the police or CPF members. Food parcels and hand sanitisers were donated to the senior citizens as well as learners at Modisakwano Primary School.

BRITS POS – BRITS - The National Movement of Rural Women (NMRW) would like all South Africans to commemorate and celebrate the role of rural women in rural development and food security.
The first International Day of Rural Women was observed on 15 October 2008. The day recognises “the critical contribution of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.” It is purposely held the day before World Food Day, in order to highlight the role played by rural women in food production. In many of the world’s poorer countries women play a vital role in the rural economy. They are involved in crop production and livestock care, providing food, water and fuel for their families, and carry out other activities to diversify their families’ livelihoods.
“Rural women are the backbone of our society and it is imperative to understand the vital role they play in assisting families to put food on the table on a daily basis. In commemorating International Day of Rural Women, it is important that all South Africans assist rural women in fulfilling their duties by opting to buy their fresh produce and ensuring that their contribution to food production translates into economic participation by creating employment which may result in the reduction of rural-to-urban migration”, says NMRW Managing Director, Ms Likhapha Mbatha.
The NMRW has undertaken a campaign to increase public awareness of the activities it engages in to assist women projects in the outskirts of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the North West provinces.
The NMRW will be commemorating this day across their social media platforms on 15 of October 2021. This will be followed by an event which will be hosted by the organisation before the end of October at their offices, showcasing the incredible work of the projects with which they are involved.

The Automobile Association (AA) reiterates its long-held view that the e-toll system in its present form will continue to fail as most motorists have a taken a principled stand against making e-toll payments.
Mr Mbalula was quoted in The Citizen newspaper today (SUBS: 8 August) as saying national roads must be maintained
“… which meant the e-toll system cannot be scrapped”.
He is further quoted as saying, “The funding model that we have employed as a country for our roads is affected by our attitude towards e-tolls, but we are working on that, and an e-toll solution will be found”.
“Suggesting road funding and maintenance is an either/or situation based solely on e-tolls is misleading, there are other options available. Scrapping of e-tolls should not, in our view, result in a lack of maintenance and development on the Gauteng freeway, it just means alternative sources of funding must be sought,” says the AA.
The AA says its research is clear that the overwhelming majority of Gauteng motorists will never pay e-tolls under any
circumstances. It has proposed the scrapping of the system and the re-imbursement of funds to those who have historically paid.
“We have also called for the ring-fencing of a portion of the existing General Fuel Levy to fund the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project as a more sustainable funding mechanism for e-tolls,” says the AA.
The AA says the GFIP must be seen in the greater context of transport challenges in the province, and democratisation of transport for the benefit of all, not just of private vehicles, which is currently not the case.
The Association says motorists in the province are being saddled with a financial burden to maintain a major route but other transport needs are not being met.
It says, for instance, other factors must be considered when dealing with e-toll funding.
One of these, notes the AA, are the costs associated with the Gautrain, which only services the transport needs of a minority of citizens in the province and runs contrary to the concept of the user-pays principle which the government advocates.
“In 2020, the Gauteng Transport
Department paid R1.9bn to Bombela, the private company operating the Gautrain as part of the so-called Patronage Guarantee; the Patronage Guarantee is paid to Bombela by the provincial government if ridership levels on the Gautrain fall below set levels. In 2020 the Gauteng Transport budget was R7.7bn so the money paid to Bombela consumed fully 25% of the province’s transport budget.
Surely this money will be better spent on servicing projects such as the GFIP which carries more people daily than the Gautrain?”
The AA says it’s also concerned that no formal decision on the way forward for e-tolls has been communicated to the public. In 2019, months before the election, SANRAL announced it would suspend the process of pursuing historical debt owed to it. Now, shortly before the November elections murmurs about

Brits Soccer Academy’s young squad excels
Players and officials also had an opportunity to visit Namibia’s coast and the magnificent sand dunes and great fun was had by all.
BRITS POS – BRITS – Young players from Brits Soccer Academy has concluded its three-day tournament on the Namibian coast at Swakopmund.
The 25-man squad and 6 officials made their way to leave the country on route to a tournament hosted by Namibia’s elite football academy, Mondesa FC.
The 2000km journey was both interesting and enjoyable. Covid-19 tests were adhered to and all players were allowed to enter Namibia and made their way to Swakopmund.

BSA Media Manager and they reached the semi-finals after playing the likes of Mondesa FC, Okahanja FC, Omaruru FC, and David Bezuidenhout FC to name a few . With BSA coming from South Africa, fans came out in their numbers to enjoy great football.
“Unfortunately we lost at the semi- finals by a one goal margin, but the young squad, mostly 16 year olds and less than five 20 year olds, gave it their all during the tournament. When the tournament concluded later that night, an announcement was made that two of the players received awards for their exceptional performance.
16-year-old midfielder and under 21 Captain, Thuto Sesipi bagged the Player of the Tournament award in the senior division and Kamogelo Thinte (16) got the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award in the under 17 division. The players emphasised that
the support of their teammates helped them to reap the rewards and they were thankful for all the support from the technical team.
Team Manager, Dr Tshiamo Ramalepa says the tournament was important for both management and the boys to not only build relationships and gain experience, but to build character, as most of them are ready to enter
the professional arena. As part of the whole Namibia experience, the boys said they could not have concluded their tour without visiting the ocean and a drive to the magnificent sand dunes which was an experience to cherish until the end of time.
As Brits Soccer Academy we are looking forward to returning Namibia in 2022 with a full squad and obviously to win all. Trials soon for local and players
from other provinces and all information will be on our social media pages.
The Academy hosts Mamelodi Sundowns development team in Brits on Saturday, 16 October in an effort to establish partnerships and share experiences. We also invite prospective footballers to attend the soccer trials this Sunday, 17 October at Brits Sports grounds and have an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Dié talentvolle fietryer van Brits, het Gauteng tydens die SA’s verteenwoordig en teen die land se beste o.17-fietsryers gekompeteer. Hy wen die 20km Time Trial in ‘n spogtyd van 28min en 46sek. Hy wen ook die SA Critérium nadat hy 10 rondtes van 1,9km in slegs 25min voltooi het.
*Critérium is ‘n fietswedren met ‘n spesifieke aantal rondtes, op ‘n geslote baan op ‘n openbare pad, wat vir verkeer gesluit
is, plaasvind. Volgens kenners is die verskil tussen ‘n sterk fietryer en ‘n goeie ryer die Critérium. Dié wedren vereis ‘n kombinasie van krag, spoed, uithouvermoë en taktiek om te wen.
Nog een van Jose se hoogtepunte was die Suid-Afrikaanse Baanfiets Omnium- kampioenskap, op Hector Norris Park in Johannesburg. Die Omnium-kampioenskappe was volgens Jose baie uitdagend, maar na
vier skitterende wedrenne het hy met die louere weggestap.
Onder die bekwame afrigting van Jeremy Maartens, volg Jose ‘n baie streng oefenprogram en die trotse afrigter is van mening dat daar nog ‘n rooskleurige toekoms vir dié talentevolle jong fietsryer wink.
Alhoewel fietsry sy groot passie is, en hy baie gedissiplineerd sewe dae van die week oefen, fokus hy ook op sy tuisskool-studies en geniet dit om tyd saam met sy perd Forrest Gump te spandeer.
Tydens die Parys Perdeskou het Anri Burger, ‘n gr.6-leerder van A+pplous Tuisskool in Brits, ‘n spogvertoning met haar Amerikaanse Saalperd gelewer.
