2. How does the “myth” of JNB and/or the noise scene in Indonesia add up to your expectations?
JNB has a worldwide reputation, but is actually a small group of fairly isolated people.
I don’t see this as a disappointment. Instead, it is a reflection of the incredible energy of the group.
3. What is your impression of JNB?
Young angry people fully immersed in the joy of making music.
4. Is there something about Jogja that made/makes it perfect for JNB? Do you think this could have happened in any other city [or even any other country]?
Not possible anywhere else. The joy and enthusiasm, the anger and outrage, the do-it-yourself ethic, the absolute lack of any money all the time – all of this is pure Jogja. Even the level of NOISE is Jogja.

5. What is something that makes JNB stand out from other noise scenes?
The humility of the people involved. Very Indonesian, very Jogja, very beautiful.
6. Do you think there's a 'message' behind JNB? If yes, what? If no, why not?
Joy.
7. How do you think JNB has grown?
Don’t know.
8. What do you think JNB will look like in the next 5 years?
No idea. Maybe it won’t even exist. If it disappears I won’t mind. The goal is not always to make things last, but to live them fully in the moment.
9. Is there anything you feel has been lacking over the years that you wish could be included/done for future JNB events? Do you have any suggestion on how to improve the future JNB events?

I was thinking of moving to Jogja after my visit there. Loved you guys and loved the place. Unfortunately, that was right at the time that a wave of state-sponsored homophobia descended on Indonesia. I switched from considering moving to Jogja, to thinking about how to get my gay friends out if they needed to escape.
