Tujuh
dari
sepuluh isolat L. plantarum {TB(CK); Bst 2; TB(NK); PSM b5; Mar A2; TB(P) dan Bst 6} menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Gram positif dan Gram negatif. Isolat TB(P) dan Mar A2 secara berurutan merupakan isolat terbaik dalam mengekspresikan gen plnA dan plnF. Isolat Mar A2 dan Bst 6 merupakan isolat L. plantarum kandidat terbaik sebagai probiotik karena memiliki nilai korelasi antara ekspresi gen dan aktivitas antibakteri.Saran
Perlu diadakan penelitian lanjutan mengenai modifikasi konformasi plantaricin
yang terekspresi dari isolat Mar A2 dan Bst 6. Diharapkan isolat L. plantarum tersebut dapat menjadi alternatif pengganti antibiotik untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri patogen E.coli untuk mencegah penyakit saluran pencernaan seperti diare.
