Preface

Dear announcers,

My name is Maria Alina Putri Rejeki, a student from the English Language Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University batch 2012. This module which is entitled “Learning English Pronunciation” was made by me in order to

help you all in learning English pronunciation.

We use English a lot in our activity, especially in broadcasting. As announcers, we have to master English, especially English pronunciation, because the music concept of Radio Mashda FM is 60% International songs and 40% Indonesian or local songs. There are so many problems in pronouncing the song titles and if we are as the announcers mispronounce the song titles written in English, it will decrease our professionalism rate. That is why, I am here preparing the source for you to learn English pronunciation as your basic ability as an announcer.

In this module, I provide six units. All the units talk a lot about English phonetic symbols. Learning English phonetic symbols will help you to learn English pronunciation yourself, especially when you get lost about how to pronounce a word, you can read the phonetic symbols provided in the English dictionary.

I hope, this module can help you to be better in English pronunciation.

If you need further information, you may contact me by sending an email to

Thank you!
