Kecamatan Alam Barajo terletak di Barat Kota Jambi, dengan ketinggian rata-rata 15 m dari permukaan air laut. Batas-batas Kecamatan Alam Barajo adalah sebagai berikut :
Sebelah Utara berbatasan dengan Kecamatan Telanaipura Sebelah Selatan berbatasan
dengan Kabupaten Muaro Jambi Sebelah Timur berbatasan
dengan Kecamatan Kotabaru Sebelah Barat berbatas dengan
Kabupaten Muaro Jambi Berdasarkan Peraturan Daerah Kota Jambi (PERDA) nomor 13 Tahun 2014 tanggal 30 Desember 2014, Kecamatan Kotabaru di pecah menjadi 2 kecamatan. Kecamatan Kotabaru resmi dipecah menjadi Kecamatan Kotabaru dan Kecamatan Alam Barajo pada Tahun 2016. Dengan masing masing kecamatannya memiliki 5 kelurahan. Tidak terdapat pembentukan kelurahan yang baru. Hanya membagi 10 kelurahan tersebut menjadi masing masing 5 kelurahan ke dalam Kecamatan Kotabaru dan Kecamatan Alam Barajo.
Keadaan wilayah Kecamatan Alam Barajo datar dan sedikit berbukit dengan luas 41.63 Km2 dan terdiri dari 5 Kelurahan: 1. Kelurahan Kenali Besar dengan luas
11,28 Km2 (27.10% dari luas kecamatan)
2. Kelurahan Rawasari dengan luas 7,40 Km2 (17.78 % dari luas kecamatan ) 3. Kelurahan Bagan Pete dengan luas
17,45 Km2 ( 41.92 % dari luas

Alam Barajo District is located in the West of Jambi City, with an average height of 15 m above sea level. Alam Barajo District boundaries are as follows: North side bordered with
Telanaipura District
South side bordered with Muaro Jambi Regency
East side bordered with Kotabaru District
West side bordered with Muaro Jambi Regency
Based on Local regulation Jambi city (PERDA) number 13 of 2014 on 30 December 2014, The Kotabaru District’s Broken into 2 District’s. Kotabaru District’s Officially broken into Kotabaru District’s and Alam Barajo District’s on 2016. With each District’s have 5 urban Villages.There is no new villages establishment. Only divides the 10 Urban villages into 5 urban villages in Kotabaru District and Alam Barajo District.
The Alam Barajo District’s contour of land are flat and slightly hilly with an area of 41.67 Km2 and consists of 5 urban villages:
1. Kenali Besar village with an area of 11,28 km2 (27.10 % of the districts). 2. Rawasari village with an area of 7,40
km2 (17.78 % of the districts). 3. Bagan Pete village with an area of
17,45 km2 (41.92% of the districts).

II. PEMERINTAHAN
Pemerintahan Kecamatan Alam Barajo baru dibentuk pada tahun 2016 berdasarkan Peraturan Daerah Kota Jambi (PERDA) nomor 13 Tahun 2014 tanggal 30 Desember 2014. Selama kurun waktu tahun 1986 s/d 2015 Kecamatan Alam Barajo masih berada pada kecamatan induknya yaitu Kecamatan Kota Baru. Sehingga camat yang memimpinnya sama dengan Kecamatan Kota Baru. Baru pada Tahun 2016 Camatnya di pilih . pada kecamatan terdahulu, Kecamatan Kota Baru, sebanyak dua belas orang Camat telah mjemimpin, dimana Camat terlama yang menjabat adalah Drs. Animan Gani tahun 1986 s/d 1993.
Kecamatan Alam Barajo terdiri dari 5 Kelurahan dan 211 RT.
II. GOVERNMENT
The new Alam Barajo District was formed in 2016 based on Local regulation Jambi city (PERDA) number 13 of 2014 on 30 December 2014, During the period of 1986-2015 Alam Barajo District still in parent sub-district of the Kota Baru District. So that the sub-district head is the same as the kotabaru district. And then, in 2016 the new one has chosen. In the earlier district, 12 district heads have taken the lead, where the longest serving district is Drs. Animan Gani in 1986-1993.
Alam Barajo District consists of 5 urban village and 211 Neighborhoods .

Data penduduk Tahun 2019 yang disajikan dalam publikasi ini bersumber dari hasil proyeksi Sensus Penduduk 2010, penduduk Kecamatan Alam Barajo tercatat sebanyak 101.351 jiwa dimana penduduk laki-laki 51.375 jiwa dan 49.976 jiwa. Dilihat dari kepadatan penduduk, rata-rata kepadatan sebesar 2.432 orang/km dengan rincian per kelurahan sebagai berikut;
1. Kenali Besar = 3.439 org/km2
2. Rawa Sari = 2.768 org/km2
3. Bagan Pete = 722 org/km2
4. Beliung = 4702 org/km2
5. Mayang Mengurai = 5439 org/km2

2019 Population data presented in this publication sourced from the projection of Population Census 2010 , residents of the Alam Barajo District which there were 101.351, consists of 51.375 male and 49.976 female. According to population density, the average density of 2.432 people/km2, with details by urban village as below ;

IV. SOSIAL
1. Pendidikan
Pendidikan merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas penduduk. Sarana pendidikan di Kecamatan Alam Barajo Tahun 2019 adalah sebagai berikut;
- Sekolah Dasar (SD) sebanyak 21 unit, 8.181 orang siswa dan 200 orang guru.
- SLTP sebanyak 5 unit, 2.163 orang siswa dan 129 orang guru.
- SLTA sederajat sebanyak 10 unit, 3.816 orang siswa dan 164 orang guru.
2. Kesehatan
Sarana kesehatan di Kecamatan Alam Barajo terdapat 2 unit Rumah Sakit, 2 unit Puskesmas,4 unit Pustu, 76 unit Posyandu, 5 Posbindu dan. Sedangkan Tenaga Kesehatan Dokter Umum 5 orang, Dokter Gigi 2 orang, perawat 26 orang, bidan 38 orang dan farmasi 7 orang, orang dan sanitasi 6 orang.
3. Agama
Pelayanan kehidupan beragama dan kepercayaan terhadap Tuhan Yang Maha Esa senantiasa dikembangkan untuk kehidupan masyarakat dan mengatasi masalah sosial budaya yang mungkin dapat menghambat kemajuan bangsa. Di kecamatan Alam Barajo terdapat 108 unit Mesjid, 115 unit Langgar, 16 unit Gereja dan 1 unit Pura.

1. Education
Education is one of the factors that can improve the quality of the population. Means of education in Alam Barajo district of 2019 are as below;
- Primary schools (SD) by as much as 21 units, 8.181 students and 200 teachers.
- Junior High School (SLTP) as much as 5 units, 2.163 students and 129 teachers.
- Senior High School as much as 10 unit, 3.816 students and 164 teachers..
2. Health
Health facilities in Alam Barajo District, there are 2 Hospital, 2 local government clinic, 4 unit local government clinic, 5 integrated midwife post. While the health workers, 3 doctors, 2 dentist, 26 nurse, 38 midwife, and 7 pharmacy personnel, 6 sanitation personnel.
3. Religion
Service religious life and trust against the God continually developed to public life and solve socio-culture that might be hamper the progress of nations.In Alam Barajo District there is 108 mosque, 115 private mosque, 16 church and a unit pura.
