Badung Regency regional symbol specified by local regulation of Badung Regency number 15, at 2010 dated December 31, 2010 on the emblem of Badung Regency.
Regional symbol of Badung regency formed equilateral pentagon with navy blue base color and black outline with the motto : “Çūra Dharma Rakşaka”
which has the meaning “its Government obligation to protect the truth and the people”.
As for the symbolism are as follows deliquent:
1. Equilateral Pentagon
Form the basis of an equilateral pentagon symbolize Pancasila as Indonesian life philosophy. Navy blue base color symbolize that Badung Regency bordered by mountain and sea, the symbol of fertility and comfort.
2. Eleventh Stage Meru
Meru means mountain which symbolize the universe or “bhuwana”, symbol of peace and prosperity. Eleventh stage represents the highest natural level from all direction (“eka dasa dhik lokapala”).
3. Keris
Keris is a sacred heirloom symbolize courage, chivalry and reflects the spirit of “Puputan Badung”. The three “Luk” at the keris symbolize “Tri Kisinanggeh Satria”, three things that embody the nature of the night:
a. Arta/money which means the object or material wealth;
b. Otot/ muscle which means the physical strenght/ material;
c. Kepradnyan which means knowledge.

Rice and cotton symbolyze food and clothing. As much as 16 grains of rice, as many as 11 rolls of rope and 9 sheets of cotton represents November 16, 2009 as the day of enactment Mangupura as the capital of Badung Regency.

Badung terletak antara 8014’20” – desa/kelurahan. Dari 6 kecamatan, Kecamatan Petang memiliki luas terbesar yaitu 115 Km2, sedang Kecamatan Kuta merupakan kecamatan yang terkecil dengan luas 17,52 Km2.
Geographically, Badung Regency is located between 8014’20” – 8050’52”
South Latitude and 115005’03” – 115026’51” East Longitude. Total area approximately 418,52 Km2 or 7,43% of area of Bali Island. It consists of 6 subdistricts and 62 villages. Petang Subdistrict has the largest area approximately 115 km2 and Kuta has the smallest area about 17,52 km2.
Seperti halnya Indonesia pada umumnya Kabupaten Badung mengalami dua musim yaitu musim kemarau dan penghujan. Hal ini dipengaruhi oleh arus angin yang melintasi daratan serta banyak uap air yang dikandungnya.
Realisasi curah hujan di bawah normal terjadi pada bulan Februari, Maret, April, September dan Oktober. Sedangkan curah hujan di atas normal terjadi pada bulan Januari, Mei, Juni, Juli, Agustus, November dan Desember.
Such as Indonesia, Badung Regency has two seasons, dry and rainy seasons. It is influenced by the wind flow accros the land and water vapor it contains. Rainfall realization bellow normal condition occurs in February, March, April, September and October.
While, rainfall realization over the normal condition occurs in January, May, June, July, August, November and December.
Informasi perkembangan curah hujan dapat dimanfaatkan dalam perencanaan usaha pertanian, karena air hujan adalah salah satu faktor pendukung bagi kelangsungan hidup tanaman. Perbedaan angka curah hujan dari bulan ke bulan berikutnya cukup tinggi dibandingkan dengan angka normal. Curah hujan tertinggi terjadi pada bulan Januari yaitu sebesar 639,2 mm, sedangkan curah hujan terendah terjadi pada bulan September 1,4 mm.
Rainfall information can be utilized in planning agriculture activities, because rain water is one of the supporting factor for the plants to survive. Differences in rainfall per month is quite high when compared to the normal rate. The highest rate of rainfall is 639,2 mm, occurs at January, and the lowest rate is 1,4 mm occurs at September.

perbandingan suhu udara di Kabupaten Badung selama tahun 2013. Keadaan suhu maksimum tertinggi terjadi pada bulan Oktober yaitu 31,50C, sedangkan suhu maksimum terendah terjadi pada bulan Agustus yaitu 29,10C. Suhu minimum tertinggi terjadi pada bulan Maret dan April yaitu 25,10C dan terendah pada bulan Agustus yaitu 23,40C.
Table 1.13 show temperature condition in Badung Regency during 2013. The highest maximum temperature occurs in October at 31,50C and the lowest maximum temperature occurs in August at 29,10C. The highest minimum temperature occurs in March and April at 25,10C dan the lowest minimum temperature occurs in August at 23,40C.
Kelembaban udara di Kabupaten Badung berkisar antara 77% - 84%.
Kelembaban tertinggi sebesar 84% terjadi pada bulan Januari sedangkan terendah terjadi pada bulan Agustus, September dan Oktober sebesar 77%.
The humidity in Badung Regency ranged from 77 percent to 84 percent.

kegiatan pembangunan dan tugas-tugas pembantuan sangat dipengaruhi oleh kelembagaan dan fungsi yang ada. Secara kelembagaan, Pemerintah Kabupaten Badung terdiri dari Sekretariat Daerah, 15 Dinas, 6 Badan, 4 Kantor, 1 Inspektorat dan 6 Kecamatan dengan pembagian tugas pokok dan fungsi yang dapat mendukung kelancaran pembangunan di Kabupaten Badung yang meliputi 6 kecamatan dan 62 desa/kelurahan.
Government’s role in development and administration tasks is strongly influenced by existing institutional and its functions. Institutionally, Badung Regency Govenrment is composed of Regional Secretary, 15 Departments, 6 Services, 4 Offices, 1 Inspectorate and 6 Subdistricts that can support development in Badung Regency which is consist of 6 subdistricts and 62 villages.
Berdasarkan klasifikasi wilayahnya, di Kabupaten Badung terdapat 37 daerah urban (perkotaan) dan 25 daerah rural (pedesaan).
Classification based on the kind of area, Badung Regency consist of 37 urban areas and 25 rural areas.
Berdasarkan hasil Pemilihan Umum tahun 2009 telah terpilih wakil-wakil rakyat secara demokratis untuk menduduki kursi DPRD Kabupaten Badung. Sesuai dengan perbandingan jumlah penduduk Kabupaten Badung, jumlah anggota DPRD hasil pemilu 2009 sebanyak 40 orang dengan komposisi Fraksi PDI Perjuangan 14 orang, Fraksi Partai Golkar 11 orang, Fraksi Nurani-Marhaen 6 orang, dan Fraksi Demokrat 9 orang.

Kegiatan DPRD Kabupaten Badung tahun 2013 lebih sedikit bila dibandingkan dengan tahun 2012 yaitu dari 345 kegiatan menjadi 279 kegiatan, dengan jenis kegiatan yang paling banyak dilakukan berupa rapat kerja yaitu sebanyak 69 kali, lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan tahun 2012 di mana kegiatan rapat kerja dilakukan hanya sebanyak 60 kali.

banyaknya proyek yang dibiayai oleh swadaya murni masyarakat, di mana untuk tahun 2013, direalisasikan proyek fisik sebanyak 733 proyek dan sebanyak 8.498 proyek non fisik. Nilai swadaya murni masyarakat tercatat untuk proyek fisik sebesar Rp. 82.463.260.000, sedang proyek non fisik sebesar Rp.88.162.187.000.
Table 2.4 shows the number of project financed by pure self-help community. In 2013, realized 733 physical projects and 8.498 non physical projects.
Value of pure self-help community amounted to Rp. 82,463 billion for physical projects and Rp. 88,162 billion for non physical projects.

hasil Sensus Penduduk 2010, jumlah penduduk Kabupaten Badung pada tahun 2013 sebanyak 589 ribu jiwa yang terdiri dari 300,4 ribu jiwa penduduk laki-laki dan 288,6 ribu jiwa penduduk perempuan, meningkat 2,51 persen dibandingkan dengan proyeksi penduduk tahun 2012 yang hanya sebanyak 575 ribu jiwa.
Population projection based on the result of 2010 population census, the number of population of Badung Regency were 589 thousands people which is consists of 300,4 thousands male population and 288,6 thousands female population. It is increased 2,51 percent compared with projected population in 2012 is just as much 575 thousands people.
Penduduk tersebar secara tidak merata di seluruh wilayah kecamatan di Kabupaten Badung. Jumlah penduduk paling banyak terdapat di Kecamatan Kuta Selatan yaitu sebanyak 134,5 ribu jiwa atau sekitar 22,84 persen dari total penduduk di Kabupaten Badung.
Sementara itu Kecamatan Petang merupakan wilayah dengan jumlah penduduk paling sedikit yaitu hanya sekitar 26,2 ribu jiwa atau sekitar 4,44 persen dari total penduduk Kabupaten Badung.
Population is not evenly spread throughout the subdistricts in Badung Regency. The population are most numerous in Kuta Selatan Subdistricts which is about 134,5 thousands people or 22,84 percent of the total population in Badung Regency. Meanwhile, Petang Subdistrict is the area with the least population which is about 26,2 thousand people or about 4,44 percent of the total population in Badung Regency.
Sebagai salah satu daerah tujuan migran di Provinsi Bali, rata-rata kepadatan penduduk di Kabupaten Badung cukup tinggi yaitu mencapai 1.407 jiwa/km2 dengan tingkat kepadatan penduduk tertinggi terjadi di Kecamatan Kuta yang mencapai 5.426 jiwa/km2. Sementara kepadatan penduduk terendah terjadi di Kecamatan Petang yang hanya sebesar 227 jiwa/km2. Kepadatan penduduk sangat mempengaruhi kondisi sosial dan keamanan di masing-masing wilayah.
As one of the migrant destination in Bali Province, population density in Badung Regency is quite high, it about 1.407 people/km2. Dari piramida penduduk Kabupaten Badung pada tahun 2013 diketahui bahwa tingkat kelahiran di Kabupaten Badung masih cukup tinggi yang tercermin dari lebarnya dasar piramida.
Hal ini perlu didukung dengan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana kesehatan yang memadai serta optimalisasi pelaksanaan program keluarga berencana. Di sisi lain, besarnya jumlah penduduk usia produktif (15 – 65 tahun) juga membutuhkan penyediaan lapangan pekerjan yang cukup banyak disamping juga harus didukung dengan berbagai perbaikan di bidang pendidikan sebagai upaya untuk mempersiapkan tenaga kerja terdidik dan terlatih dalam memasuki pasar kerja.
Studies on the population distribution by age group is also very important because related to various social demographic phenomena. Based on population pyramid known that birth rate in Badung Regency relatively high that reflected from wide base of the pyramid.
It needs to be supported with the availability of adequate health insfrastrusture and optimization in implementation of family planning programs. On the other hand, the large population number of productive age (15 – 65 years) also requires large number of employment opportunities. This should be supported by a variety improvement in education programs in order to prepare well-educated and trained workforce in facing the labor market.
Berdasarkan hasil Survei Angkatan Kerja Nasional, jumlah penduduk usia kerja (15 tahun ke atas) di Kabupaten Badung pada tahun 2013 sebanyak 446,68 ribu jiwa. Dari sejumlah itu sebanyak 333,46 ribu jiwa diantaranya merupakan angkatan kerja, dan 113,02 ribu jiwa bukan merupakan angkatan kerja. Pada tahun 2013 Tingkat Partisipasi Angkatan Kerja mencapai 74,79 persen, meningkat dibanding tahun sebelumnya yang hanya 66,28 persen, sedangkan Tingkat Pengangguran Terbuka pada tahun 2013 sebesar 0,77 persen, sedikit menurun dibandingkan tahun 2012 sebesar 0,78 persen.

Labor Force Participation Rate in 2013 reached 74,79 percent, increase over the previous year which only 66,28 percent. Unemployment Rate in 2013 was 0,77 percent, decline slightly compared to 2012 amounting to 0,78 percent.

Pembangunan pendidikan diupayakan untuk mencerdaskan masyarakat, untuk itu peningkatan sarana dan prasarana pendidikan mutlak diperlukan untuk menunjang keberhasilan pembangunan di bidang pendidikan. Di Kabupaten Badung pada tahun 2013 terdapat 181 Taman Kanak-Kanak, 274 Sekolah Dasar/Madrasah Ibtidaiah, 50 SMP, 19 SMA dan 22 SMK, dengan jumlah siswa masing-masing Taman Kanak-Kanak sebanyak 11.227 orang, Sekolah Dasar/Madrasah Ibtidaiah 61.284 orang, SMP sebanyak 23.827 orang, SMA sebanyak 10.399 orang dan untuk SMK sebanyak 13.235 orang.
4.1. Education
Education development effort to eduvate the community, therefore improvement of educational facilities are absolutely necessary for the success of the educational development. In Badung Regency, there are 181 kindergartens, 274 Primary Schools, 50 Junior High Schools, 19 Senior High Schools and 22 Vocational High Schools. With as many educational facilities that are 11.227 pupils of kindergartens, 61.284 pupils of Primary Schools, 23.827 pupils of Junior High Schools, 10.399 pupils of Senior High Schools and 13.235 pupils of Vocational High Schools.
Universitas Udayana sebagai satu-satunya Universitas Negeri di Kabupaten Badung dalam tahun 2013 memiliki jumlah mahasiswa sebanyak 21.945 orang yang tersebar pada program S1, S2, S3, supported with 1.575 full time lecturer.
4.2. Kesehatan dan Keluarga Berencana Dalam upaya meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat di Kabupaten Badung terdapat 6 buah Rumah Sakit, 13 buah Puskesmas dan 54 buah Puskesmas Pembantu yang didukung oleh 162 tenaga dokter dan 650 tenaga paramedis. Bila dilihat jumlah kunjungan pasien ke puskesmas selama tahun 2013 tercatat 311.638 kunjungan, dengan kunjungan rata-rata per bulan sebanyak 25.970 kunjungan.
4.2. Health and Family Planning As an effort to improve the health of Badung Regency community, there are 6 hospitals, 13 public health centers and 54 supporting public health centers that supported with 162 doctors and 650 paramedics. During 2013, there were 311.638 visits to the public health center with the average number of visits per month as many as 25.970 visits.

Pada tahun 2013 jumlah pasangan usia subur tercatat sejumlah 78.552 pasangan dengan jumlah akseptor 67.145 atau 85,48 persen.

Selama tahun 2013 jumlah perkara kejahatan/pelanggaran yang dilaporkan ke Polres Badung sebanyak 581 buah.

4.4. Agama
Seperti halnya di Provinsi Bali, sebagian besar penduduk Kabupaten Badung memeluk agama Hindu. Sarana tempat peribadatan yang ada di Kabupaten Badung adalah 307 buah Pura Kahyangan Tiga, 89 buah Pura Sad/Dang of the population in Badung Regency are Hindu. There are 307 Kahyangan Tiga temples, 89 Sad/Dang Kahyangan temples, 55 mosques and mushollas, 32 curchs, and 5 Kelentengs/Viharas.

Pembangunan pertanian diupayakan untuk peningkatan produktivitas dan diversifikasi tanaman untuk kebutuhan pangan dan pelestarian lingkungan. Data produksi pertanian dan produktivitas tanaman pangan yang meliputi : padi, jagung, ubi kayu, ubi jalar, kacang tanah, kacang kedelai, kacang hijau, disajikan secara lengkap pada tabel 5.1.1 sampai dengan tabel 5.1.8.
5.1. Food Crops
Agricultural development effort to increase crop productivity and diversification for food security and environmental conservation. Data production and productivity of agricultural crops include rice, maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, peanuts, soy beans and green beans are presented completely in Table 5.1.1 to Table 5.1.8.
Angka tetap produksi padi sawah tahun 2013 adalah 112.705 ton, bila dibandingkan tahun 2012 mengalami penurunan sebesar 6,67%.
The production of wetland paddy is amounted 112.705 tons, decreased 6.67 percent compared to 2012.
Produksi tanaman jagung tahun 2013 di Kabupaten Badung adalah sebesar 322 ton. Dengan luas panen sebanyak 57 Ha, sehingga produktivitas tanaman jagung menjadi 56,49 Kw/Ha.
Corn crop production in 2013 in Badung Regency is amounted 322 tons.
By as much as 57 hectares of harvested area so that the productivity of maize reached 56,49 quintal/hectares.
Produksi tanaman ubi kayu pada periode 2012 – 2013 mengalami peningkatan sebesar 42,63% sebagai akibat peningkatan luas panen sebesar 35,00%.
Cassava production in 2012 - 2013 increased 42.63 percent as a result of a increasing 35.00 percent in harvested area.
Sementara itu produksi tanaman ubi jalar pada tahun 2013 sebesar 11.283 ton meningkat sebesar 34,90% bila dibandingkan tahun 2012.
Meanwhile, the sweet potatoes crop production in 2013 is amounted 11.283 tons, increased 34,90 percent compared to 2012.
Hal serupa terjadi pada produksi tanaman kedelai yang mengalami peningkatan sebesar 384,73%, sedangkan untuk tanaman kacang tanah mengalami peningkatan sebesar 79,01% dibanding tahun 2012 sebesar 362 ton.
The similar condition occurred in soy bean crop production that declined 384,73 percent, while the production of peanut have increased 79,01 percent compared to 2012 which is amounted 362 tons.

Selain berusaha meningkatkan produksi di sub sektor tanaman pangan, Kabupaten Badung terus berusaha meningkatkan produksi di sub sektor perkebunan, sebagimana disajikan pada tabel 5.2.1 dan 5.2.2.
5.2. Plantation
Besides trying to increase production in food crops sub-sector, the Government of Badung Regency continues to increase production in plantation sub-sector, as presented in Table 5.1.1 and 5.1.2.
Secara umum produksi tanaman perkebunan sebagian besar mengalami peningkatan seperti kelapa genjah, kopi arabika dan robusta, cengkeh, jambu mete dan kapok. Sedangkan komoditi yang mengalami penurunan yaitu kelapa dalam dan coklat.

5.3. Kehutanan
Hutan menurut fungsinya dibagi atas hutan lindung, hutan produksi, suaka alam dan hutan wisata. Sampai akhir tahun 2012 tidak mengalami perubahan.
Pada tabel 5.3.2, jenis hutan lindung menyerap 63,31 %, hutan wisata 0,78 % dan tahura 35,90 % dari luas hutan 1.779,87 hektar.
5.3. Forestry
Based on its function, forest can be classified as protection forest, production forest, natural reservation and park. Till the end of 2012 there is no change in area of forest. Protection forest is amounted 63,31 percent, park 0,78 percent and natural conservation is amounted 35,90 percent of total area of forest in Badung Regency.
5.4. Peternakan
