There were once a little brother and sister, who loved each other with all their hearts. They lived with their stepmother, who was cruel to them. One day, the two were playing with other children in a meadow in front of the house. There was a pond in the meadow which came up to one side of the house. As they were running about merrily, the stepmother, who was also a witch, watched them from the window and grew angry. She changed the little boy into a fish and the little girl into a goat.
