SIMPULAN DAN SARAN

5.2.1 Saran Teoretis

1. Mengadakan penelitian dengan populasi yang lebih besar agar mendapatkan data dan gambaran mengenai pengaruh parent involvement dan student engagement terhadap academic achievement yang lebih lengkap.

2. Mengadakan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai dimensi parenting yang lain dan peran konteks sekolah yang dapat meningkatkan school engagement.

5.2.2 Saran Praktis

1. Berdasarkan model penelitian diperoleh bahwa orang tua perlu memiliki parent involvement yang lebih tinggi karena terbukti bahwa parent involvement berpengaruh terhadap academic achievement baik secara langsung maupun melalui school engagement siswa. Parent involvement yang diperlukan siswa kelas 4 – 6 SD “X” dan “Y” adalah dalam hal orang tua berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan sekolah, memiliki perhatian terhadap sekolah, berkomunikasi dengan siswa mengenai perasaan dan pengalaman di sekolah, serta menyediakan kegiatan dan material penunjang yang menstimulasi kognitif siswa.

Universitas Kristen Maranatha 2. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan, perlu dimunculkan school engagement siswa dalam hal berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan akademik, memiliki reaksi positif terhadap akademik, sekolah, dan guru, serta investasi dalam belajar.

3. Pihak sekolah SD “X” dan “Y” perlu membekali program pembinaan kepada orang tua untuk meningkatkan parent involvement.
