2016 Moderation meetings for Authority- registered subjects

Purpose

To inform schools about the schedule for the 2016 moderation meetings for Authority-registered subjects.

Background

There are four phases in the quality assurance process for Authority-registered subjects: study plan approval, internal reviews, moderation meetings and external reviews.

In 2015 new Group A Subject Area Syllabuses (SAS) were implemented for the first time with Year 11 students. Moderation meetings for Authority-registered subjects in 2016 will include these Group A SASs and Prevocational Mathematics.

Moderation meetings for the following subjects will be held in April and May 2016 (see attached schedule for proposed dates):

Moderation meetings will be scheduled for three hours. Remote schools and subjects with small cohorts in some districts will be offered the opportunity to participate in online moderation meetings. Information about the online moderation meetings will be communicated directly to schools involved.

Travel costs for one teacher of each Subject Area Syllabus (SAS) to attend the relevant moderation meetings will be met by the QCAA. The QCAA is not funded to provide Teacher Relief Scheme (TRS) for attending these meetings.

What you need to do

Arrange for one teacher for each SAS subject offered by the school to attend the relevant meeting, or participate online, as indicated on the attached schedule. This teacher should be the teacher of the 2016 Year 12 cohort.
