Each assessment in the ABLES suite provides specific data that supports teachers to plan targeted levels of learning within age-equivalent units of work for students with disability. Assessment items are ability based or skill referenced and based on observational evidence of what a student can do, say, make, write or draw. The visual below may be used to familiarise teachers with the nine different assessments available as well as the associated levels unique to each.
Resulting data is displayed within level progressions and ranges from Level A through to Levels 5 and 6 (approximately Years 4 to 5) depending on the assessment completed. Teachers can consider where students are working across different assessments and how this data can be used to personalise learning for each student. When students are assessed as working beyond the highest levels in an assessment, learning progress continues to be tracked and monitored using other assessments available to schools.
