The election of members of the Council was the second such election in the University of Adelaide Act. 72, which provides that the membership of the Council shall include 22 members elected by the Convocation of ElectOl's (consisting of all graduate and postgrad .ate students of the University and all p rsons in full-time employment at this University). Hambly, who in 1971 retired from membership of the council, the office of vice-chancellor and the deanship of the Faculty of Arts.
A prominent member of the Methodist ChUl-ch, he had been for a three-year tcnn. Bull resigned the Chair of Civil Engineering, to which he had been appointed in 1952, on 30 June to take up the post of Vice-Chairman of the Commission of Australian Universities. The Council hereby records its great appreciation for the extensive and valuable assistance he has given over many years in the structural design and coordination of the building programs of the University.
Members of the University also received rural credit grants totaling $115,031 during the year for 14 projects. The collection was collected over a period of forty years and is probably one of the leading herring collections of Pacificana.
