Time allowed—Approximately 10 minutes (Plus 10 minutes preparation time)

DIRECTIONSTO TEACHER/ EXAMINER AND CANDIDATES

Candidates will have 10 minutes to read and prepare both questions.

Candidates may make written notes during the preparation time, but they may NOT consult them during the recording.

The examination is to be recorded on cassette. The cassette recorder should NOT be stopped until the whole examination is completed.

Attempt BOTH questions.

Candidates must state their Student Number, Centre Number and the number of each question attempted.

Answers must be in Modern Standard Chinese.

Choose TWO of the following topics, and record your response to each one on the cassette.

Your answer MUST be in Chinese and MUST contain at least SIX sentences.

(a) What do you, as an Australian teenager, do for recreation on a typical summer weekend?

(b) What sort of job do you think you might be doing when you are forty years old, and what would it probably entail?

(c) By what various means can one travel from Brisbane to Melbourne, and why would you choose one over the others?

(d) Given complete freedom of choice, where in the world would you spend the next five years, and why?

(e) What advice or assistance would you offer to a school friend who wants to leave home?

(f) What are some of the advantages of living among people of different cultures?
