Issue No 67 May I, 1958 The Baha'i Faith, a non-priestly, pantheistic sect which seeks to comprise the essence of all true religions, aims to become world wide. Followers of this offspring from Islam claim it to be rationally based & to agree perfectly with science; they include universal peace, tolerations & friendship as main principles. But, to judge the quality of the Faith from the nature of its temples (as architects are naturally prone to do) leads

to the suspicion that irrational pomposity had already replaced rational friendliness when this temple was built in Chicago, some years ago. Now the same sect

is going to build this, their first Australian centre, on a hilltop at Mona Vale, Syd (John R Brogan, arch't).

Many people would prefer the natural beauty of the hill as it is now.

modern office bui:dings

Soaring towers of glass, steel and concrete, efficient and functional in design, today's office buildings — a symphony of modern materials.

Such is Melbourne's Alliance Assurance Building, a new multi-storey office with shining glass facade. A handsome addition to Melbourne's fast-changing skyline.

The Architects, A. C. Leith Bartlett & Partners with the help of the Dunlop Flooring Service, came up with an imaginative solution to the problem of a floor design that fits in to every possible arrangement of partitions. First the floor was completely laid and the office partitions were installed in position. These can be moved at will but the unusual and attractive floor layout always retains its basic design by the use of the skilful blending of colours.

... by Dunlop

Dunlop Rubber Floor Tiles were installed on the ground floor and the basement and 10 upper floors were laid with Dunlop Vinyl Tiles.

Keep this in mind ... next time you're thinking of running up a block of flats or a fifteen story `skyscraper', turn early to the experts on flooring ... together you'll find the solution.
