The best foundations at University come from a judicious mix of academic and non-academic. The student at the University is in a very different position from the student at school.

Often they have little information about working conditions, salaries, opportunities for admission and advancement in the professions they have chosen. The staff of the Board also constantly observes the trend in dešcan'd for graduates with different types of training and can make limited predictions of employment opportunities in different professions after two, three or four years. If you are in doubt about the specialization route you should follow in the later years of your course, it would pay to discuss the problem from an employability point of view with a member of the Board's staff.

The first purpose of the Guidance Qшce is to assist ex-servicemen in all aspects of their university admissions and their relations with the Common Prosperity Reconstruction training program. and the one that concerns all freshmen) is to care for ex-servicemen who, throughout their education, are concerned only with the issues that are their own, and who are available not only to provide guidance and assistance to the individual, but also to pst in resolving administrative and academic issues related to military personnel as these issues affect the university and the university commission. Ex-service students should make a point of noting the guidance counselor at least once a semester, whether or not they have any obvious concerns. Such "courtesy calls" often pay unexpected dividends; they also enable the supervisor to build up a complete picture of the individual and his problems, and thus provide that officer with an appropriate brief for use on such vital occasions as examiner conferences, when discretionary powers of admission to supplementary examination or otherwise. matters of importance to the individual students are practiced. Reconstruction students are required to the Commonwealth Reconstruction Education Authorities to report all absences and this should be done to the supervisor; however he

The earlier such problems are brought to the attention of the Guidance Counselor, the greater the chance that the problem can be satisfactorily resolved.

REVUE "E" DAY

Traditionally unconventional, the annual Revue, to be produced in May, is undoubtedly the entertaining feature of the year. This year's organizing geniuses, David Syme and John missinolty, have already created a can't-miss theme and a script committee that reads like a Who's Who of University talent. When their pens are chewing on the holder, they want your scripts, your music and your acts, but more on that later.

So we will be happy to see (and hear) you at the early meetings, especially at the Freshers' Welcome, when hopefully the Professor will be able to introduce you to the work of the Department.

It is hoped that all Jewish students at the university, especially freshmen, will come along to advertised functions and become full members.

The Psychology Club particularly invites Freshers to become members simply by attending all Club functions advertised on all notice boards and by contacting the President or Secretary at the beginning of the first term. THE LIBRARY

The University Library Catalog, containing entries for all works, including those housed in departmental libraries, is located in the catalog room, located in the north-east corner of the General Library. This list contains brief author notes for a large number of books in the General Library. However, it is not authoritative, and students should not conclude that because they cannot find the desired entry in this list, the required work is not in the library.

These libraries, as well as the collection in the Geology School, are classified according to the Dewey decimal system. The library is the heart of the university; books are vital things and students are asked to treat with respect that valuable asset - the property not of a single student or of a generation of students - the University Library.
